Good game considering our franchise player wasnt playing

Lost by 1 to one of the leagues best, nothing to ignore

Lankinen another Blankinen performance

Continued growth from EPettersson2

Concerning efforts from EPettersson1 and Brock Boeser again

Rest a the team got a hell of a heart

bbud and refs quick whistles zebras etc

Man I love this team :yo:

This is hockey purgatory.

We can probably get to 80-95 points with Hughes. Maybe make the playoffs as a WC team.

But the fun stops there. We are not going to have lengthy playoff runs nor are we going to win the cup anytime soon.
We really should be in rebuild territory but we can’t because we have Hughes.

So we’re trying to retool.

And while we fixed our defense, I don’t see how we’re going to field a top 6 that can contend.

We’re 25 in goals for in the league.

You think we are just going to sit on that 9-11M of cap?

With money

Both disallowed goals should have counted. I just couldn't see how Blueger was preventing Hill from playing the puck. He was about 2 feet away when Hoglander shot.

You can't fault the effort....actually had the better of the chances in the third period. But without Hughes, and with Pettersson a shadow of what he was--this team simply doesn't enough talent up front.

Just too many guys who bring next to nothing to the table offensively. Suter, Garland and Sherwood have gone ice-cold. And in the middle, guys like Aman and Blueger really generate very little. Did I hear it right--that Blueger has one goal in 36 games?

There really needs to be a changing of the guard in the third-fourth line center position. Whether it's Raty or Sasson, or somebody who comes in as UFA, they need more.

The positives included another heroic effort by Lankinen; the amazing growth of D-Petey; and liked Chytil's game.

Somehow acquire and sign Rantanen. This might be the only legitimate path to contention we have in this Hughes window. A superstar falling in our laps.

The lack of starpower with Pettersson playing with one knee and negative confidence was already apparent with Miller here. We literally need to throw 14M at Rantanen and pray he wants to come here.

Sounds like Carolina has thrown that kind of money at him and he’s turned it down, so I doubt he’d be any more excited about here

Theres been a some Highs and a lot of lows in the last few years. Last year really invigorated the fan base.

I can't imagine this will continue indefinitely anymore. I'm not sure how management will get out of this mess. That Petersson contract is going to be an anchor like we've never seen before. I don't blame them for offering it, it is what it is at this point, but jeeeeeeebus.

Rants was a product of MacK. Could you imagine having 25% of our cap tied up in Pete and Mikko and still needing someone better to get them producing

It’s incredibly early to be concluding that. But if presented to us, that’s literally the type of risky swing we’ll need to be able to even get close to contender status. There’s just like no other way with this group, I can’t really see how else and who else. We’re the Nashville Predators if we go on like this.

Canucks were lucky to even be tied after 2 and the better team won. Lankinen kept us in it.

Obviously not having Hughes sucks, but this team regularly puts up games with <2 xG. Quick count puts us at 39/56 games with sub 2 xG, last season they had 43/82. Frustrating.

Man...this team is kinda f***ed...they had close to 25% roster turnover in the off-season and now they are going to do the same this year? And a lot of those players heading out will be long-term/legacy guys.

Jim and Alvinn need to keep Quinn and turn this roster over in a hurry. No saving this disperate bunch.

The Canucks are screwed with EP. He has tanked his value in record fashion and any team that was interested before likely has zero interest now. They will hope and pray some of the years EP is atleast a ppg guy. Boeser is likely gone, should be retained and traded at the deadline for max value

Sad to think how much hope we all had this time last year. Started off the season with cup aspirations and now the present and future of this team looks very bleak.
