Not directly leaf related but just watching it the guy seems pretty depressed but also like such a good guy. Admits his contract is bad he says, "my contract sucks" and says he would scrap the whole deal right now if he could because it makes him immoveable. Real stand up guy seems honest, recognizes the big cash grab he made has come back to bite him. One of the very few times you see a real life situation of money not making someone happy...usually its just a saying.

Its still going on right now, sounding amazingly professional as well.

you can tell he just wants to play and doesn't care about this stuff anymore

what did u mean u could have been traded before lu?
(what he wanted to say)
"our GM is a Pejorative Slur......just trade me to whoever, thats what the good GMs are doing" (giving the guy a chance to play)

love the guy. find it hard to believe people can not like him.

Would have loved to have him here.

It is not that I don't like Lou, I just don't like his contract. I'd welcome him with open arms if he were bought out this season and signed here.

Same here, pure class act, true lover of the game. Hind sight is always 20/20...I think he will be dealt for nothing or bought out this off season...if the leafs werent going to win the cup this year and he never played for the Canucks I would really want him to win the cup. Hopefully he hits the ice soon before his last few prime years are up.

There's a point where the money doesn't matter any more. He's not playing anymore, he wanted to move, and would be willing to have taken a significant discount to be given that opportunity.
How could he have discounted the cap hit to the new team?

Sounds like Gillis might finally have Lu in a situation to waive his NTC for ANY team, instead of just 2-4 of them.

I dont understand why everyone is so dead against trading for him duthie said today that if Luongo played for 5 years then retire the implication of the leafs would be approx 1.7 million for 3 years.. whats the difference in that an havind tucker and armstrong's buyout for the last couple of years? now I agree that it shouldnt take too much to land him Gillis is an idiot

Maybe the Canucks management and fans can finally put away the used car salesman tactics and focus on getting a realistic return. Sounds like Luongo will waive his NTC to anyone at this point too.

Misunderstood me. He'd rip up the contract, take on a discounted contract that pays him nothing close to what he does now in order to get to a place where he is the clear #1.
