Does he stay for the rebuild or does he sign/get traded to a cup contending team? Either way, he has one of two options:

1. Stay in New York and he'll be always be remembered as a loyal franchise player no matter what happens?

2. Go to a team that has a chance of winning the cup. But then the issue becomes: Do any current cup contending teams need a starting goalie, or at least a veteran presence?

The only teams that can be considered IMO: Tampa Bay and Winnipeg. Chicago and Edmonton are both iffy choices for me because they both had off years this past season. But, I'll probably give a slight edge to Edmonton if they can fix their defense and develop consistent goaltending.

On an extra note, if the Penguins carried Fleury and Murray through the playoffs, then why can't it be Lundqvist and Vasilevsky or Hellebuyck?

Seems he wants to stay.

We’ll see if another playoff-less season next year would be enough to change his mind, but I’d lean towards no.

It was reported the team asked him at the last deadline if he wanted to stay through the rebuild and if he didn't, they'd do their best to find him a good trade.

He said he wanted to stay.

I suppose if things are reallllly bad in the next few years then he might change his mind but the answer to your question right now is unequivocally yes he wants to stay.

From my time lurking on here, long before I signed up, Nevesis has always been categorical in that Hank will win a Cup with us, or won't win one at all. From his comments after 'the letter' and from what Dolan said, I think it only seems to reaffirm that's exactly how things will go. Hopefully with the former senario unfolding!

Once the Russian Bias was eliminated, Shesty was on his way over now to get the Calder and Vezina in 2019.

Just show the King the door please!

Which door? I imagine he sees tons in his day-to-day life, why should this particular door be pointed out to him?

IMHO, it means nothing to win the Stanley Cup with other franchise, when you were a star player for other franchise. The Ray Bourque's cup was pretty meh for me. I would admire any player more to stay loyal to your franchise no mattter what the end is gonna be, kudos to the Sedins!

Since the beginning I've predicted that if Hank wants to ever leave NY he'll be headed to Frolunda.

Luongo is still playing at the top of his game, there is no reason Hank can't still be a decent goalie at age 39-40.

No contender could fit him in. You would have to do him a favor and eat 50% at minimum, and maybe even take a cap dump back in the receiving teams incumbent goalie to make any deal. It would be more of a favor to Hank than it would be a good move for the franchise.

His future is he is the NYR starting goalie for the next two seasons. Ask this question again in the spring/summer of 2020.

He stays. And he’ll be fine in the long run. I bitch about how the fans worry about his mental state. But I don’t worry about him. He is smart. He knows that sticking it out with the Rangers is the best way to go big picture. Worst case he’s Duguay. Best case he’s in unprecendted hero territory. Like, if they do win a cup in a couple years with Hank, he towers over Messier among Ranger legends.

I have MY FUTURE to worry about, I think Hank has his covered. Whether it's with a cup or not. Let's be real.
LOL well said Larry. I think Lundy controls his fate for the most part. He was smart to get the NTC. Right now he said he wants to stay but if this rebuilding process turns out to be a losers paradise for years where they only play for draft picks in June (like a few fans dream about) then Lundy may say enough and not want to waste his last good years.

Could go out as "quite the warrior", fighting till the end. Honestly, don't want that for him, but again.....his decision. He would be doing his team "that he loves so much" a HUGE favor, by allowing us to deal him. Then again, u never know! Could be a quick turnaround and he leads by example. As always.
