Rangers do need faceoff help, that is an area that they need help for the playoffs. Glendening brings experience, grit and the type of player that is built for the playoffs.

Seems like a good idea for the rangers but is Detroit selling? Also, would a fourth be enough? Anyhow, I suppose availability would be based on what Detroit does in the standings the next two to three weeks.

Glendening signed with Dallas last offseason, so......yeah.

Detroit can do whatever they want but I doubt it'd impact this deal.

Dallas might actually want the draft pick to be a bit higher. Glendening is a good player who I think a majority of playoff teams want in the bottom 6. Im not saying the value is totally off just that it might require a 3rd or even a 2nd to aquire him. Unless Dubas wants him and trades a 1st ofc.

Hey, if Toronto wants to sell the farm for another Nick Foligno, I'm sure Dallas is all ears!

Reasonable and small enough potatoes that we can discard him after this season.

Howev, this is still not the correct first course of action.
Need to sell high on Strome, give his mins to Chytil and Barron, the latter of who has been doing well on faceoffs, and then later Kravtsov.
AFTER that we do Glendy and cut a guy like McKegg or Hunt to upgrade.

Detroit tried to trade him last deadline and nobody wanted him

Pass. Keep your 4th. I would rather have Glendening than a 4th round pick.

Doubt what? Its what he stated.
It's what every UFA that signs anywhere says.
Nobody is going to Dallas with the very obvious holes in the roster to compete for a cup when the team can't even make the POs regularly. It's PR speak nothing more

Even making the playoffs regularly does nothing. See Toronto.

You know things change from year to year right? Especially when one year is a shortened weird covid year where the trade market was different.

Chytil has not shown much with the minutes he get, same with goat. At least Laf has spurts of this. Kakko has been hurt which explains his non factoring game. I want Barron to get more ice time. Especially on the PK and maybe on the PP. put him shooting the puck. He did score well on the PP in college. Not sure if Barron is a net screen guy on the powerplay, but he does have the ability to get those dirty goals. Having another guy like Kreider that is causing havoc in front of the net is always good to have.

Playoff teams are always looking for gritty PK and FO specialists and plenty of players moved at last years deadline, nobody was willing to even give up a mid-late rd pick for him at the minimum cap hit. Someone might pull the trigger on him this time but no chance he's returning a 2nd or 3rd

The issue is a 4th is not worth it. He is signed next year at a good price. So it will take more to get him out. He is not a rental and Dallas is not looking to move him. Dallas too needs the PK And FO specialist as well. A 4th round pick is not incentive enough to move him. Same with people wanting Hakanpaa. Sure when they are rentals that is what you would expect to receive. But they both have term so no.

We agree on Barron.
I have seen enuf flashes from Chytil to believe he is real deal 2C w/upside IF he has adequately sufficient linemates and is not constantly juggled w/dif linemates. I think an improved LaF w/great skating and sticking w/Gauth is worth a full try. They outplay the comp; even tho scoring is minimal, eye test says it seems like it is less for opponents.
Fact that we cannot extend Strome at any # makes it problematic.
