I mean I can't imagine it would cost much of anything. He's a good 4th liner and tough, but he's a 5M+ cap hit.

What about this.

Lucic at 50% retained for Boston’s 2023 2nd + Nick Foligno (50% retained).

Both are pending UFAs so term matches.
Foligno is having a great season so far. No reason to do this trade from the Bruins end and you even have them sending a 2nd to Calgary. They are paying a 2nd to add more cap and a (arguably) lesser player?

You wanted size and toughness. Foligno was terrible last season. He’s definitely a contender to revert to his mean.

It won’t be happening this year that’s for sure with are cap issues and Foligno isn’t moving so my guess would be next year since he’s a UFA and I even doubt that with us needing other things more such as Pasta resign and figuring out who’s playing center for how much.

Bruins couldn’t even fit him at 50% retained and he’s cooked.

I’d like to remember the Lucic in a B’s sweater that I remember and not sully that image with what he is now.

the pronouncement of his demise is vastly overstated.

he's still an effective 3rd 4th liner.

like most things in todays NHL, pair him with the right line mates and he'd be fine.

why the hell would Boston give up a draft pick there?

You kill the moral of the locker room by moving Nick. He's playing very well and his leadership is worth more than the nostalgia of bringing in Looch. I would like him back but it's almost impossible with the way the cap works.

Boston is barely under the cap after some gymnastics, they can't really afford to add another overpaid bottom-sixer without it being a cap neutral trade. They're probably looking to dump salary at this point.
