Safe to say, he's earned himself another deal at the NHL level, regardless of what happens in the postseason. Will the Pens give him another shot to earn the starters role with their AHL club, or will another NHL deal come his way?

He's an NHL player for sure. A really good backup goalie and i think he will sign with his hometown team to support Jake Allen next year with the Habs. At least that is what I wish for

Backup to a bonafide #1 or #3 behind a tandem . Not going to make more than 1 million per and not longer than 1-2 years. If he gets a 1 way deal thats a win for him.

DeSmith is a UFA this summer so Penguins will need to sign somebody for the back-up role. DeSmith? Fleury? Domingue?

He will get a one year NHL minimum. Probably not with the pens.
He hasn't had to steal a game yet, he was very good in the OTs , average in game 2 and surrendered 4 goals in game 3. This isn't Matt Murray 2.0.....

If he gets a raise it'd be pretty minimal...I wouldn't even bet on him getting a one-way contract right now. He'll definitely get another contract from an NHL team, though, which wasn't necessarily a guarantee for a 30 year-old goalie who had played precious little hockey over the past ~3 years.

If he steals a game for the Penguins maybe someone does overreact and offers up a million, but he is who he is and it's not like the Penguins won a low scoring game last night. This is a guy who once won 11 straight games in the NHL and played only 3 NHL games the following season...he's capable and he's flawed. I'm certainly not confident with him in net, but fully appreciate the difficulty in just being good enough on this stage.

Exactly

The Domingue stuff is way overreaction at this point.

Domingue's save percentage (including the playoffs this year) in the NHL since the start of the 18-19 season is .901%. That's lower than his career average of .905%, granted save percentages have dropped over the last 4 years from what they were earlier in Domingue's career when he had his best years. That's a 49 game sample size and it's not good. He's only even a .903% in 3 games this playoffs. Now, he can come out next game and have a great game and push that number up to .930% over 4 playoff games, but this is way jumping the gun here.

To be fair, GM's are DUMB and I can see someone overreacting and signing not only him, but any of these replacement goalies that have had to step in this playoffs, if they have a good run. Is some team dumb enough to trade something significant for someone like Raanta if the Canes win a couple rounds with him? I guess just stay tuned.

He would be a good fit in Edmonton.
Definitely. They need a BAD goalie to replace the void of letting their really bad UFA goalie (Koskinen) walk.

DeSmith is a UFA this summer so Penguins will need to sign somebody for the back-up role. DeSmith? Fleury? Domingue?
The only edge Domingue has over any of them is that he'll be much cheaper if there's a cap crunch.

DeSmith will likely get a raise (maybe not as much as he would have, if the season ending surgery scared some suitors off or costs him a few bucks and some term). Fleury probably doesn't get a raise, but with his credentials and pedigree, he's likely gonna be MUCH more expensive than a backup. Maybe he'll play in Pittsburgh for cheap?

Domingue's save percentage (including the playoffs this year) in the NHL since the start of the 17-18 season is .900%. That's lower than his league average of .905%, granted save percentages have dropped over the last 4 years from what they were earlier in Domingue's career when he had his best years. That's a 68 game sample size and it's not good. He's only even a .903% in 3 games this playoffs. Now, he can come out next game and have a great game and push that number up to .930% over 4 playoff games, but this is way jumping the gun here. Someone feel free to check my work there, I did that by hand, but I can't be off by that much. I think it's .900%, regular season AND playoffs since the start of the 17-18 season.

I'd be much more comfortable with Wedgewood as the planned backup than i'd be with Domingue . Meaning i'm fairly certain Wedgewood is getting a better contract ( probably 1-way imho ) than does Louis and i don't think Wedgewood is good either.

This website is just weird.

Domingue is pretty much the definition of an AHL/NHL tweener goalie, and him playing 3 games in the playoffs (which weren't even that good statistically) won't suddenly make him skyrocket into anything more than that.

He's a good backup option if you have a great starter that you're going to rely on for 65 games and just want a cheap backup. Him being a backup for someone like Vasilevskiy, Fleury or Hellebuyck would make a lot of sense. But beyond that, he's not really someone who should be in a platoon role and he's best served in the AHL if you don't have a workhorse starter.

I'd be a little surprised if Domingue landed a guaranteed backup spot. At this point he seems more like somebody's #3. There's maybe ten backup spots open and a dozen+ guys for those spots. Any possibly a few teams will go with their younger internal option (Skinner/Ingram/Luukkonen/Tarasov) than a veteran UFA. Ballpark goalie depth charts for next season:

ANA: Gibson | Stolarz
CGY: Markstrom | Vladar
EDM: Smith | Skinner?

Someone will give him a two-way deal at league minimum. He's definitely a number 3 goalie on an avg or above avg team.

Two way a AHL team that needs a platooning 1B to help their young prospect.
