Looking for "Cat-eye" style player Cage

Hey all,


Looking for one of those thin wire cages with the cat eve openings that I see some players wearing from time to time. I am in a tournament that requires a full cage so I need to get the minimalist cage I can find. The ones I saw look similar to a cat-eye goalie style but were specific to a regular hemlet and no chin cup.


Any ideas?

I know the one you are talking about. A few guys I skate with wear them. Only problem, no clue where they got them. I've never seen them online or in a hockey shop.

I ran into a guy at the lake placid pond hockey tourney years ago who made them. Didn't think to ask cause I dont usually where a cage.

This may save you some heartache in the long run. If the tourney requires cages, make sure before you do too much searching that the cages don't have to be certified. If the do, you may be looking in vain.

i think there more of a lacrosse cage, maybe try a lacrosse store or dealer, if you watch any pro level of lacrosse most of the players have cages with really big eye holes

You ever thought about making your own? Not that hard to cut sections out of a regular cage. You won't get that cat-eye opening but you could alter one enough to offer a similar result.

Something like this will only run $26. You could remove the chin strap too.

I have seen that before but I think that may raise an eye or two at the tourney. The cat eye at least looks like sortat a complete cage to them.

Looking on the interweb I think it may just be an itech goalie cage strapped to a reg helmet. But still ask. Thanks!

I think what your looking for is called a FISHEYE Visor. I doubt you will find a lax visor/cage to do the job. I have yet to see one where a puck can not pass through let alone the blade of a stick etc etc...

I'm doubting they'll let you use it in a tourney, even if you do find one. Most places have banned cat-eyed goalie masks. Not to mention it has to be CSA approved. Which probably isn't the case with something like that. I know a place that does it though. They don't have a website I believe. But you can order over the phone.

That's a field goalie cage...so i don't think that one would work, and if it has to be approved, it won't be.

If you don't want to completely cut wires out you could file them down?

They do let you. Dunno the reasons why or how but they do. wiseman wont ask either.
