Hi guys!

We're looking for a handful (1-3, potentially up to 5 if we find people really dedicated) to join a fantasy keeper league that we've just finished a successful first year of and would like to expand to a few more active members of this community. The majority of the members are very active HF community members (most are from this subforum) and we love action packed trades, deadlines and fun hockey conversations. We've had roughly 150+ trades in just the past year alone, so if you want to get your armchair GM head out, this is the place to be! We have an active Slack group for discussions and trades.

Some sample trades from the past year:
Rangers trade Owen Tippett, Josh Manson and a cond. 13th (becomes a 12th if Rangers win the Championship) to Florida for James van Riemsdyk and Jacob Chychrun
VGK sends PK Subban, Marchessault, Anders Lee, and the 16th to Tampa for Clayton Keller and the 3rd
Tampa trades Werenski, Giroux & Couture to Arizona for Kucherov
Winnipeg sends Gustaffsson, Makar to Florida for Doughty

There are obviously tons more, but we're not a shy bunch when it comes to trading!

The league is a limited keeper league, whereby each team keeps 4 rookies (less than 25 GP) and 8 non-rookie keepers. There is a yearly draft of the rest of your team which keeps things spicy from year to year and everyone engaged. We currently have 9 awesome members and would like to increase to between 12-14. If you're interested in a very active, trade-heavy and really fun fantasy league, please let me know, either by posting here or PMing me.

Co-commissioner here! Love doing this league, great group of people and a lot of fun!

I am in a head to head for the past 10 years that I am getting sick of (because of the head to head and the fact that half your points each week come from just goalies, so 2-3 players on your roster). Can you please explain your league rules and scoring. That is as important to me as an active league (which I am already in, I like the folks, just not the way the league rules are set).

We don't do head-to-head. We do a full season of scoring with a cap on games played. The regular season is 60 games (through February 15th) and the playoffs are 22 games (Feb 15-Mar 31st). Top half of scoring make it into the playoffs. You get a small boost based on regular season rankings, but it is not hugely material. It is up to you to manage that you do not have extra games left to play or run out of games ahead of time. Gently using your bench players in case of injuries tends to work out well.

This is the scoring per category. Defenseman get a slight increase in blocked shots (.35 vs .25), assists (2.75 vs 2.5) and goals (4.25 vs 4). This system has worked out super well for us so far, with players being appropriately leveled, no bs like grinders somehow scoring more than a PPG skill player, but giving some bonus credit to those who provide value outside the scoreboard. In most cases, a third line skill player will be below a third liner who scores as much, but also provides other benefits like hitting, but both will be below a 2nd line player who scores a little bit more than both of them.

We're going to tweak goalie scoring a bit for next year because we found this system gave a bit too much wildly scoring goalies, with some days being in the strong negatives and some in the strong positives. Overall it worked out okay (the best goalie provided about as many points as the best skater), but we'd like to lower the variance a bit.

We utilize fantrax for scoring and Slack for chat.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yea, it all looks good but GA on your goalie shouldn't cost more then a G for your foward, is that what you found out? Other then that, it seems good. How are you going about adding brand new teams if you already have keepers? Redraft? I am very interested.

We're going to scale back both GA & Saves a bit.

We lost three members after this year (retained 9), so we're going to do a redraft of all players who are in the pool (ie. non-keepers from the 9 teams + full teams of the three teams that dropped out) for any new joiners until they have their 8 keepers and 4 rookies. This redraft will be snake style. Based on some mock drafts that I did by myself, these teams will likely be slightly below the average, but better than some of the current teams' keepers. Thus, they'll be placed with the non-playoff teams (likely around spots 3-7) and considered for the regular draft lottery, which will include all 2019 draft players as well as any non-keepers (after the expansion draft).
