This is true. Zboril really was the consensus top dman available at 13. Leading up to the draft, consensus was that the top 3 dmen were in a tier above the rest. Zboril was seen as the best in that next tier down.

There was a lot of talk that the Bruins made a big push to move up to get Hanafin, but the deal didn’t come together.
If we play this game McAvoy fell all the way to 16th and should have been top 5 while carlo should have never been a 2nd round pick many have him as a redraft picked in the first round. Draft is pure luck but Donny could do better for sure he has a D grade on it .

No, he wasn't. That's simply not true and never was.

Here are twelve final rankings ahead of the 2015 NHL draft.

Just looking at Zboril and Chabot alone they were each ranked in the first round 10 times. (ESPN didn't have either ranked and we can throw out the Central Scouting International scouting list for obvious reasons.)

On those ten lists Chabot was ranked ahead of Zboril 7 out of 10 times.

But again, even if you reversed that Don Sweeney's entire job is to determine the best player to pick, and he got two teammates playing the same position dramatically wrong.
