These 2 hopefully propelled themselves to the front of the pack after this cup run.

At least Lombardi should take GM of the year... Not sure if Kopitar will win the Selke in his first nomination...it's funny because he already should have 2 Selke's by now.

They are. Voting is finished by the time playoffs begin, hence the finalists being available to knowledge.

I have a sinking feeling Kopi won't win it this year, but it would take a catastrophe for him not to win it next year. Too many people saw him shutdown Toews, Getzlaf, and Thornton over those first three rounds.

He will need to repeat it in regular season. If the Kings will fly out of gate next season and will continue with this strong playoff performance, he will be locked to Selke with adamantium chains

One of the reasons I skip the awards is because most of the time it's solely on reputation. With 2 Cups, these guys will start winning them now.

Off topic

Kopitar's signed stick was sold for 2260€, around 3k $, for charity here in Slovenia

As for awards... he is top scorer of the team in every single season he played from a start, at both Stanley cups was top scorer, and the best of all he is still progressing. In my book, he is monster player.
I don't think he will get Selke, but I am sure the way he is, those 2 cups are much much more valuable for him.
Unfortunately he will never hit east conference as I am sure he will stay at Kings whole career and he will be out of the bias

And then himself in the last round because he had no one else to cover :sarcasm:

Agreed, though. Awards are decided before the playoffs and I'm pretty sure it's Bergeron's to lose. Would be nice to have the rep to win it next year though Toews, Datsyuk, and Bergeron will be right back in the mix with the other usual darkhorses like O'Reilly. I think it's very telling how awesome this team is compared to how few individual NHL awards they have, what a true team. I know we all think they deserve recognition for their various merits, but I think it makes it all that much harder to stand out!

(except Kopi who is regularly 10-15 points higher than the next highest king in points--hope he gets to blow up with Gabby on his wing next year and just win one of the non-subjective awards :P)

Agreed... and half the winners sound like a joke when they are announced given the playoffs that just transpired.

It's going to sound silly when Bergeron who didn't make it past round 2 is going to lose the Selke to Kopitar. Stuff like that just cheeses up these awards to no end.

The GM award is silly since you can't judge a job done the same year. What they should do is the GN award should be based on the previous three years. That way Lombardi, who built two of the last three champs, would have won the last two...rather than jobless guys like Shero winning.

The GM of the year award, voting close in the second round of the playoffs.
