This is the real final. Arizona is a very clever design and deserves to be this far, but Detroit is the ultimate classic hockey logo that has also stood the test of time flawlessly. When you then combine the logo with the rest of the team look in action it becomes even more clear.

I like that the coyotes' art style is so unique to their area. That's really cool and important. But man, I just think it's hideous.

A wing on a tire is also very rooted in Detroit, being motor city. And I can recognize the history there. But I think it's also hideous.

Went with Detroit, although I'm shocked that either one is still in this thing. I guess there's just no accounting for taste. And apparently I'm referring to my own.

Feathers. It’s like a Kachina. Those usually have feathers. That’s what’s on the mask, too.

DET is easily the best of the O6 logos. Local to the Motor City, simple concept but enough detail that it's hard to draw exactly right.

ARZ is the best of the modern ones, nothing is like it. It's the only "animal holding a stick" logo that doesn't suck.

They're both specific to the home region and neither would make sense if they swapped cities with each other.

ARZ already beat an inferior O6 logo in CHI. DET already beat an "animal holding a stick" logo in SJS. And they've both got W's against an Alberta logo. Great matchup, agree that this is the real final.

This ought to be Detroit in a landslide. Recycling posts from earlier in this project:

The Red Wing is an elegant design, which creates shadowing through the use of white space, and flows beautifully left-to-right as the industrial curve of the wheel blends into the soft organic wings. Most of all, it looks really great on a jersey... the feel of an authentic-quality Wings crest is just awesome in your hands.

It's legitimately a strong design. Product of its times, yes, but if someone said "Hey we are starting a new team in Detroit and the name is going to be the Red Wings, make a logo" this would be just about the best you could possibly do with it. Of the O6 logos it's the best in a modern context.


The Coyotes logo is clever, it has that going for it. As a logo, it's just... not great. I hesitate to say it's bad because there are worse logos in the league, but it's kind of a visual mess.

Based on the current poll it looks like the Coyotes will win this, which is a shame.

The howling coyote head that they were using before was boring! I like this logo better but I have to believe that there’s an even better one out there that someone could create for their new area?
