That Coyotes logo is very nice, the Ducks logo is probably the worst in the league.

Well it's sure as f*** not the Ducks weird UFO looking item.

The answer to "better logo" is always, "NOT THE DUCKS".


They really should pony up whatever Disney money it takes to bring that original logo back. It was still really weird and ugly, but it was a lot better than what they have instead.

Many sites i've seen saying that the Ducks logo is by far the worst in the league, really can't argue that one!!
 
Wildwing would be a legit contender to go all the way.

I feel like i should also say that i think one of the extremely few things the Coyotes organization has actually done well and not completely embarrassed themselves on over the last number of years, is really leaning back into that whole Kachina look. It's something that they got so very right initially, and managed to really mess up. But bringing it back has been great. It's such an awesome, unique style (and color scheme).

I actually prefer the howling coyote to the current design, but both are still better than the current Ducks logo

It took me a very long time to even realize that it's supposed to be a duck foot. Even to this day, i still kind of refuse to accept that as an identifiable design exercise. It very much looks like a weird UFO blob, far more than a duck foot. Which...even conceptually...why would you model your logo on a duck foot? It's not even a cool like "bigfoot". It's just a weird flappy webbed thing. Nor is it like a foot print. It's ostensibly...an actual, severed duck foot? Like what?

It has nothing to do with Disney. The Ducks can and do use the original logo. The owners just don’t want to give up the ‘new’ logo because their daughter created it (I’ve heard) and they’re insistent on creating their own era identity. But yeah, the Ducks literally use the mighty ducks logo in their 3rd jerseys and have been for years.

To each their own, but the original Mighty Ducks logo is commonly regarded as one of the most popular logos in all of sports.

Yeah I don't care for the current logo at all, and it's especially frustrating that one of the best looks in the game was cast aside for this one.

That's why I wanted to clarify the previous comment, because I really don't know if I've ever heard of someone having a great preference for the new look compared to the mighty ducks.

Just look at Giggy in my display picture, how can anyone not think that's an all time great getup?

Agreed. I know it's always subjective. But I really liked the previous Coyotes logo with the howling head. Those looked amazing on that maroon colour.

This really is a contest between some of the worst in the league. Because that Duck foot is pathetic. Voted Coyotes.

That's interesting. I can see where you're coming from about the Kachina look being "busy", and generally i also hate overly busy logos/designs/uniforms. But when it comes to the Yotes look, i think you have to step back and take in the entire thing as an wholistic expression. Look at it like post-impressionist art. If you focus on every single dab or dash or colour in a Seurat painting or whatever, you'll have an aneurysm. But if you take it in more broadly in its entirety...it's actually a pretty "simple" image. Same goes for the Coyotes Kachina logo (and jersey) imo. You can't focus on any of the individual elements too closely. Just take it in as a complete unit of design.


Whereas the Howling Coyote logo to me, especially on their maroon uniforms...was "busy" in a way that washed the entire thing out. All the little contour and pseudo-shading details never really registered for me at a distance. The overall uniform impression is just a big ol' blob of maroon and cream/tan.


Out of curiosity though...how do you feel about the Minnesota Wild logo? I ask because it's another one of those ones that's at a micro inspective level, kind of extremely "busy". But at a macro impression level, i think it really works and looks very nice. It has...layers of depth that make it work on multiple levels.


Alternatively, i'd be curious which you prefer between something like the Old vs New Jaguars NFL logo. Same general "concept"...but completely different styles of execution.

The whole coyote has too much going on for a primary logo, that being said it's still better than the Ducks.

IMO Coyotes should switch to just the kachina head, would probably be the best logo in the league.

Ducks old logo came first to mind, the new one has no character. So this round goes to peyote Coyote.
