With the Bruins needing defensive help, why not give Arnesson a game on the bottom pairing and see how he does? Solid, stay at home, defense-first type. Nearly 22 now. Has put in nearly a year for Providence. How bad could he be?

I like him. Steady, absolutely no offense though. I think the consensus would like to see a little more muscle from him.

What's the story with Linus? Don't hear much about him factoring into posters' plans. Heard many times that the Bruins hope he turns into a in-his-prime Seidenberg...ummm...that sounds perfect for our needs.

Guess he's still a year or two off...just hoping PROV watchers might have some insight. Thanks.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney says prospect defenceman 12 UFAs Vegas should target in exclusive negotiating window is returning to play in his native Sweden to rediscover his game after an injury-plagued season in the minors.

Sweeney says the Bruins will extend Arnesson a qualifying offer to retain the rights to the 2013 second-round draft pick who completed the final year of his entry level contract. Though disappointed in the decision, Sweeney referred to Arnesson as still having "a lot of upside" while acknowledging injuries took a toll on the player’s confidence.

Sweeney spoke in Buffalo on Thursday while attending the NHL rookie combine.

Swedish Hockey League team Orebro HK announced on its website a day earlier that it had signed Arnesson to a multiyear deal. The 22-year-old was quoted as saying he was seeking "a fresh start."

Arnesson was limited to playing just 20 regular-season games with AHL Providence this season because of injuries to his shoulder and Achilles tendon. He also had an assist in 13 playoff games for the Bruins' top minor-league affiliate.

"Forward Peter Cehlarik underwent major shoulder surgery." Major. Doesn't sound good.

Still paying Seidenberg to play great hockey for the Islanders.

I didn't mind buying out Seidenberg at the time... but replacing him with Liles? While Seidenberg bounced back and Liles was used sparingly... that seemed like a waste of a buyout. And not much savings.

Exactly, just about everyone had had enough of Sieds at the time he was bought out , to look back now is unfair. To take on Liles in his place is the part that makes it a huge mistake.

Unless you fled overseas because you had a fairly stable NHL gig but hated the coach and they fired him (Sobotka with the Blues) or you're a legend like Jagr, guys never come back.

It's rare but not impossible.

That said, Unless Arnesson makes improvements leaps and bounds (ie. he'd be potentially slotted in the top 4 upon his return), he's likely staying in Europe.

It's not impossible to see him back, but it shouldn't be expected.
