I guess 2 years isn't bad, by then they'll known what they have. I thought it would very a 3x3.5 so 3.375 is good.

That wraps up the offseason for the Bolts. No FA or cap left. Save what's left for TDL

Now we'll see if any trades and/or other moves are coming. They have 20 players signed with 2.375 available. Bringing up Lilleberg and one of Goncalves or Ylonen leaves them with 730k of cap space and a 22 player roster. If Sheary is moved, they'd have 2.73 to try and sign or trade for a top 6 RW(up to someone making 5.46 with max retention involved). Perbix seems less likely, as after adding Crozier, they'd only gain 255k and have just under 3 available(provided Sheary is also moved).

No problem with the Moser contract. JBB kept team control by doing a 2 year deal, which likely increased the aav a little. It was very unlikely he was ever coming in under 3, so if it's an "overpay" at all, it maybe ~300k. It has very little impact on any additional moves.

There's no trades to be made. This is our roster.

Getting a $5.5M quality top 6 forward on max retention for crap like Sheary, Perbix and a 2nd is a pipe dream. And they're not selling any of their top future assets at this point - they're in collecting mode now.

This is our team. We'll have like $1M stored up for the TDL.

Sheary would be moved in a separate deal, as he'd have little value in a.larger trade for a top 6 type RW. Perbix could be included, but wouldn't be the main piece. More likely would be just moving Sheary and signing Sprong, but I've seen trades floated for players such as Kakko, Kuzmenko and others. Kuzmenko could be interesting, although pricy. Tampa would.need to move Sheary and Perbix(likely Perbix as part of the trade with Calgary), but with max retention, they could acquire Kuzmenko. More of a long shot, but not impossible. Sprong is still available and wouldn't cost assets to acquire, and if it's a choice between him and Sheary, I'd choose Sprong. The current roster is not set in stone as the one on opening night yet, as JBB now knows exactly what he can do if addressing the top 6 is the plan.

McDonagh contract up the same time as Moser, so if Moser proves to be valuable over the next 2 years we'll have some money coming of the books to give to him, if need be

Sheary and Perbix for Vatarano or Rackell is the trade we need to make.

Sprong replacing sheary would help the pp and top 6 a lot

Vatrano would be another good option. Just moving Sheary in a trade anywhere would give them enough cap for.Vatrano with some retention involved. I could see Perbix as part of the trade though, and if there was 25% retention on Vatrano, after adding in Crozier, Lilleberg, and a 775k F, Tampa would have 75,500 in cap with a 22 player roster. If they get 50% on Vatrano, they'd have 987,500 in cap space to work with.

Next best thing to buying out his UFA years w/o a bridge which we never do, signing him to team control at expiry is just as good.

Considering how underrated he is, seems like an appropriate deal.

I see a lot of Stralman in his game.

Went to Capfriendly to check the deal and learned the Capitals bought the site and it's now shut down. That sucks, was a very useful site. Kinda strange to see an NHL team buy a site like that.

The NHL is run by a bunch of dinosaurs. They are clueless on how much engagement that site generates for the league.

Looking at puckpedia it looks like we can't have a 23 man roster as it stands now.

The Capfriendly API is insanely good. Having that as a proprietary tool for a franchise is a huge leg up on any other team. I bet some teams have internal tools, but getting Capfriendly just gets the work done with little overhead and maintenance.

Liking the JJ signing. Now ship Sheary out and get Vatrano.

I don't believe Tampa has run 23 in a few seasons(unless they were using ltir), so as long as they get to 22, they should be fine.
