At the time, the pick was somewhat suspect, and very few subsequent events proved otherwise. I understood/defended that pick along with Andersson’s deteriorating play and his/the Rangers’ ensuing actions in the following years, but at a certain point it became clear that the Rangers had enough available options in the 2017 draft to make this off-the-board selection seem like a simple case of poor scouting.
