I hope I got the The Depressing People of Carolina right... Lol.

Not really. Habitant, in the sense the Canadiens use it, isn't just "people" but a specific reference to the farmers who settled the shores of the St. Lawrence River who were essentially tenant farmers/sharecroppers. If you just wanted to say The Depressing People of Carolina you could say Les gens dépressifs de la Caroline.

So yeah...Les Habitants are essentially the French-Canadian version of what we in the South would term "crackers." Motion for the Canadiens to be relocated to Atlanta and promptly be renamed:

In contrast, when used by CanadiAns, "Habs" is used pejoratively...meaning arrogant, annoying, and clinging to success had many years before most fans were born.

I swapped it to that. It's been 20 years since I took French.

I'm thinking "Les Miseables de Caroline" could also work.

That would require us to break out in song during the game. And if Big Mike blowing his horn was a mere distraction, what would everybody in the stadium singing contrapuntally be?

Edit: Oh God. You and I really are the Frasier and Niles of the Canes Boards.

Will be in attendance at my first Canes game this season. For some reason I have not been as enthused to watch live hockey in Raleigh this season.....
