Proposal: Leivo for Oleksiak

Stars could use a right handed forward, and Leivo could fit in well there. He has no spot on the leafs ATM. Oleksiak is expendable on the Stars, and Leivo is expendable on the leafs. Would much rather have Oleksiak than Marincin.

Would much prefer to give up Smith and play Leivo...

Not that Smith would get you Oleksiak, I just don't really see this improving the Leafs too much.

What? We're on the verge of getting Eakin and Sharp back, a forward isn't of any interest. If Hudler ever gets over this illness we'll have 3 better forwards in the AHL than Leivo.

yeah, and who would they be? leivo had a 0.94ppg last year as a 22 year old. Devin Shore is the only forward that will play on texas thats better than leivo.

also don't want/need oleksiak. In his 6th season after being drafted and still can't crack the lineup? another 1st rd bust chosen because of his size

If such a trade were to happen though, I'd like to request that Dallas take a defenseman back, preferably Marincin or Corrado.

Ranford , Dowling , Morin , McKenzie and Stransky are similar or better AHL player than Leivo + the Stars still have some prospects with Texas that need to get playing time.

I don't think he meant in terms of actual AHL contributions, Leivo still has some NHL projectability. He'd be on our team if we didn't already have 8 rookies in the lineup

We already have Smith, Dowling, and McKenzie doing fine in the NHL. If we have everyone healthy
Benn-Seguin-Eaves
Sharp-Spezza-Hudler
Eakin-Faksa-Ritchie
Korpikoski-Shore-Cracknell
are playing in some order, and only one of those first 3 are in the NHL at all. No room for Leivo except in Cedar Park, where he's behind Dickinson on the first injury call-up depth chart.
