I've read the thread regarding Lecavalier ( the one that has been closed ) in which someone reported the Lecavalier had been hurt and that he could miss the Olympics.

That information comes from our French media " RDS " here in Canada. Take it for what it is, but it is mentioned ( in french ) that Lecavalier was hurt in the 3rd period as he received a puck on his left foot during a power play. RDS reported that he " could " miss the Olympics cause the Lightning mangement think his foot may be fractured.

Here's the link : http://rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/196773.html

I have not seen anything on TSN or Sportsnet or else. Only RDS...

If its true, big loss to Canada. Lecavlier was MVP of the World Cup, wasn't he?

But one man's loss is an oppertunity for another. This is a chance for maybe Eric Staal to step up and show the world what he can do.

not very accurate translation though.

they fear that his foot might be fractured, in which case he'd miss the Olympics. but no one really knows.

Vinny did not block any shots in the third period.

Plus, he played until the end of the game, why would he have stayed out there if he was hurt in a 6-0 game?

Vinny played until the last minute of the game, if he was hurt, John would've taken him out of the game immediately.

Well... he's playing and RDS has not updated it on their site.

Everything is fine with Vinny...so forget all I've written before. Next time, I'll be cautious with the news form RDS.ca.

Sorry for all that speculation.

i agree, this is Spezza opportunity to shine if its true.

Just an FYI, they did say he did have a lowerbody injury and was testing it out during warmups when the telecast came on, so it may not have been all bogus.

If vinny is injured, no big loss. Staal > Lecavalier.
To team Canada he isn't...

Team Canada is looking for experience... Vinny has Stanley Cup, World Champ, World Cup, and World Cup MVP... His resume outweighs Staal's ... And don't tell me that experience doesn't matter, they base a lot of decisions on it... (See Foote)

Yes vinny has more experience than staal, but the fact is:

Staal > Lecavalier, Canada would be presently a better team with Staal replacing lecavalier regardless of experience.

Very true. Blake was also selected, because he has all the experience what is needed..

Sure experience matters. you know what matters more when your team has LOADS of experience all thorughout the lineup? Talent.

Eric Staal and Jason Spezza are both better than Lecavalier and both would make TC better than Lecavalier does.
