The North West Junior Hockey League is pretty far down the ladder even in terms of Jungle B leagues, but this is an interesting development.

The league is now the Strike Group North West Junior Hockey League. No terms divulged.

The company is a maintenance/construction outfit, and the league operates in an area dominated economically with oilfiled activity - although it is also prime agricultural land.

How much money would it take to rename a league? How much is it worth to a company to have its name associated with a league whose teams play in communities of less than 10,000 people and draw in only a few hundred (if that) fans a game.

Hockey is weird.

The English Premier League sold it's soul naming rights to Barclay's.

From 2007-16 they were officially called Barclay's Premier League.

That I could understand. Barclay's is an important brand and the Premier League is a good partnership to have.

This one is ... uh... less so.
