Not sure I agree. 17 teams qualify under one measure, 3 under the other. End of the day it is just different ways of looking at it but I find Scotty's method intrigues me more. I'd be more intrigued too do an analysis over the years to see how that translates.
Sorry, you lost me there.
All I'm saying is if you have a PP that only lasts 10 seconds, the balance to that is you will only be on the PK for 10 seconds.
It washes out when you add up both percentages.

Big win and this is the style of game the Leafs are built for .. Wide open, end to end rushes, exchanging chances, skill on skill.

Unfortunately this while highly entertaining in regular season style play only and the playoffs are harder hitting, tighter checking and lower scoring.

Auston Matthews is not going to have multiple breakaways in the same game etc.
I agree with this Cassandra style comment. Let’s hope at least a couple of playoff games will be like this one.

You missed my edit, I misread that as the previous discussion. Was explaining why I preferred Bowman's take.

Matthews will stop at nothing to complete the 70s porn star look

Huh?

Rielly has been playing lights out this whole season. Not just 1 rush play
Yes but difference was last night he was best man on da ice .. not just 1 rush .. did you see his blocked shot ? .. did you see da speed play he made on Kamp's goal? .. did you watch his breakout passes? .. he absolutely put team on his back and said boys you coming with me .. that is leadership needed in playoffs .. BE DA MAN

Yep, feel bad about this win everybody.
LOL.
I personally thought that might have been our best effort of the year, didn't think the shots on goal told the full story. Pens are a great team and I don't think any of our players had a weak game, everyone showed up and did their job proper. Not sure how one could have such a negative feeling after lol

It reminded me of Rielly's own rush goal a couple years ago....though that one was even prettier as he finished with a sweet toe drag around the last defender.
Still to this day one of my favourite Leafs goals I've ever seen

I remember that goal also being the start of a new era in Rielly's play too, it was around that time to the rest of the season afterwards he played with a lot more assertion and was less deferential to the older players.

LOL.

To me last night was probably one of our most important games this season, since Pittsburgh is basically the only team that has shown to have our number. Was pretty baffled when I came in that there was only 5 pages of discussion.

Seemed like a playoff type game to me. Intensity seemed ramped up.
I'd expect this same type of game if they face Pittsburgh, Tampa or Florida in the playoffs.

Hope so, but not likely ..

If Matthews is getting multiple clear cut breakaways in alone like last night I wouldn't expect 1 goal in 7 playoff games like last year. :)

Not expecting that regardless of the number of breakaways.

Yea you are right, Matthews won’t get multiple breakaways

Nylander, Marner, Kase, Mikheyev, Kerfoot

those guys are going to be getting breakaways.

no team completely stops giving breakaways in the playoffs

Just imagine if Sundin had that kind of support (they'd have won the cup). Well he had Mogilny but that was really it at that time. Gary Roberts was good also. But then remember that those Leafs did make it to the Conference finals twice in 4 years. The best part about it was that they always took the Sens out.

I am not expecting any team to play run and gun against the Leafs in the playoffs.

For regular season this is great entertainment for fans to see high end skilled teams go back and forth exchanging chances and creating offense, but teams tighten up come playoff time.

I agree there are still turnovers and mistakes occasionally that lead to breakaways but Matthews was floating around at the opposing blue-line and getting 50 ft passes from deep in Leafs own zone to spring him in alone. That is more Pond hockey then real hockey.

This game had a playoff like intensity but a regular season style of play. IMO

Yeah that Matthews only ever scoring off the rush and breakaways. Such an absolutely smooth brained take.
