Stats were very misleading, we controlled that entire game. Loved everybodys effort. Hated the pinch on the Pittsburgh goal, other than that great game overall. Marner is just on another level right now, absolute insanity. I've never seen him dominate like this, especially for this long of a stretch. Refs were horrendous, that Marner penalty was absolute garbage. Solid game from everyone, D was great, didn't give them many good chances. Mostly weak floaters, but Soup made a couple huge glove saves in tight too. 10/10 on effort and result, love it.

We won the draft lottery at the perfect time boys. Matthews is just a generational goal scorer who, health permitting, could lead the league in goals for the next 8-10 years.

This game was won by Jack tho, amazing performance, as well as Reilly who has been as good as he's ever been since signing the contract extension ... Absolute steal and should have the C on his jersey, giving up millions of dollars for a chance to stay here probably and hopefully his whole career

That would hurt so much. Just watching it hurts. My brain keeps signalling my tongue to check if I have any teeth left.

special teams(especially pk) is the most important thing in the postseason outside solid goaltending imo. we havent had special teams this good in a loooong time.

They showed the stats during the game, apparently not just us, but nobody has had special teams this good in a long time (other than Carolina last season). I don't remember exactly but they showed the numbers for the top 4 special teams since forever, one was NYI back in 78 or something, Carolina last season, can't remember who the 4th team was and then there were this years Leafs and IIRC, we were even on top of that list though not sure, I wasn't paying that close attention.

At any rate, you know the old saying - goaltending and special teams are crucial to playoff success, that is not just a random saying but it's absolutely true so with that in mind, I was thrilled to see that stat and thrilled to see Campbell have a fantastic game. If Campbell can give us a solid performance and our special teams don't fall off a cliff like last year, but keep rolling then we'll be a tough team to beat this spring.

I know PIT had a ton of shots on net and I don't know what the fancy stats say and I really don't care, that was a very good game we played tonight. Well done boys!

Hope Matthews isn't hurt too bad. And I don't want to sound uncaring when I way I'm glad it was his face that got hurt, not his wrist. Get well soon Auston!

Great win marred by some of the worst reffing I have ever seen. We are one of the best even strength teams in the league but have received 134 powerplays compared to our 164 penalty kills. I'm so sick of this shit every year.
Bracing myself for this, it’s only gonna be worse in the playoffs, like every year.

Since January 1st, The Leafs PK has 50% goal differential. Kinda crazy you're just as likely to get scored on as score when on the PP against the Leafs since then.

Whose gonna come out on top?

Bunting/Matthews/Marner 5v5 goals for/60 = 6.42
Tampa Bay's 5 on 4 PP goals for/60 = 6.57

Even crazier this is even a thing.

Tristan Jarry is a POS. Constantly the kicking the net out
I wish he does it in an important game and actually gets a penalty

Great success

Beat one of the hottest teams in the league handily. This was a big win for this team.

Im not worried about Tavares either. He's still a point a game. People forget that he was our best player for the first month to 6 weeks of the season. Along with Nylander and Campbell. I still feel Tavares was best. Im fully confident this team is gonna be clicking on all cylinders come playoff time. He still could even be feeling the effects of covid and in your 30s having a month in middle of long season not getting up fully for every game isnt out of the ordinary. If youre still putting up ppg numbers when youre slumping thats a positive.

I know the season will be a success based on what we do in the playoffs, but I really think we should appreciate the dominance this team has shown for half a season now. Some cool stats since November 1st, 2021:

Record: 28-8-2 (2nd in the NHL by points%)
RW: 23 (2nd in NHL)
Goals/game: 3.89 (4th in NHL)
GA/game: 2.53 (3rd in NHL)
PP: 36.2% (1st in NHL by 7%)
PK: 84.9% (5th in NHL)
Net PK%: 91.5% (1st in NHL) - this takes into account how many goals a PK scores
GF 5v5: 2.53 (4th in NHL)

Now these stats are for the resilience of the club/overall dominance:
Win% when trailing first: .600 (1st in the NHL)
Win% when scoring first: .826 (5th in the NHL, EDM is at 1.00 but they only scored first 10 times LOL)
Wins by 3 or more goals: 15 (1st in NHL)
Losses by 3 or more goals: 4 (T-3rd in NHL)

I mean those numbers look pretty much just as good if you include October too.
