I PVRed both, then watched the Leafs 1st and saw them go up 3-1 and was felling good.

Then I watched the Bill/Pats 1st half and was felling really good.

Then I returned and watched the Leafs 2nd period and wasn't feeling so good again.

So then I watched the end of the NFL game, and braced my myself as I returned to watch the 3rd period of the Leafs and then it ended on happy note as well.

All's well that ends well.

I have a weird need to see sports live so PVRing isn't as enjoyable to me. I watched until Leafs were up 3-1 then watch most of the first half of the Bills, then flipped back to a 3-3 tie. I was not impressed.

Leafs are on a 6 game road trip and this was game 4.

The team is returning home however for a few days and with the NJ game postphoned in Toronto they head back to NY on Wednesday to play the Rangers and then close out the trip against the NYI on Saturday.

Both goaltenders were off, but it made for a very entertaining game.

Glad we came out on top, and we were the better team overall.

I hear you, when I PVR, I just stay away from all media until I can watch the game, it's as close as you can get to watching live with the exception of actually watching live. It's definitely hard to watch with the same level of excitement when you know the outcome. I do watch the games of upcoming opponents to get a feel of what the Leafs need to do to win.

I saw the PP goal that Marner was behind the net. Did they finally change the setup ?

1st unit PP didn't score a goal while Marner was out with Covid, and his first game back, the unit scores off a sick pass from Marner to score a key game-tying goal in the 3rd.

Let's draw wild conclusions!

:naughty::sarcasm:

I'd rather draw wild conclusions by looking at the teams record when Marner was out. I'm not entirely sure what it says, but I know that it does say that the Leafs wouldn't be making the playoffs.
;)

It seemed like it was changing a lot as the PP went on but Nylander definitely spent most of the PP on the half wall and it seemed like Marner just kind of roamed for open ice where ever.

So they won a game they deserved to lose after losing a game they deserved to win.

All is right in the world.

Real talk, this road trip had the worst officiating I’ve seen in a long time.

When we were beating Colorado the refs put their whistles away, but when Colorado started giving it to us they still go the calls. Fast forward to the coyotes game, when we were taking it to them, no calls…

The Vegas game, same thing as Colorado.

And last night vs the blues, that Liljegren mauling was complete bullshit and really kills the entertainment of the game.

I dunno but I like that position for him

Good to hear. Biggest problem IMO, isn't the personnel but that the PP was too predictable and static.

Thought the Leafs were back in last year's playoffs with all the picks and constant interference.

Yup and the number of times in the past where I did PVR a game and it started at eth end with the final score showing when I went to play it is another problem.

unfortunately I think he will get benched for Holl once he’s back.
I sure hope not Tim's been playing some good hockey, Muzzin I think needs a long rest. I'm not sure if the management can figure out a way to sit him without ticking him off. He isn't skating well and compounding that is a lot of poor decision making which has wreaked havoc with his confidence. His play is actually hurting and not helping he team atm, it's also impacting the performance of his playing partners, whomever it happens to be on the night.

It suits Marner's game

He sees the ice like few others, has an instinct for finding unmarked teammates and can create time given half a chance

Letting him roam, find holes and soft areas is making the best usage of his pass first playmaking skillset

In the Wayne Gretzky position behind the net in the best place for Marner on the PP.

However on that particular Matthews goal it just unfolded that way through constant player movement rather than a static setup.

There was a lot of movement on the PP. Matthews started on the right face off circle and eventually made his way to the left side, everyone was skating and moving around the D set up. They adjusted to STL PK set up, Marner was basically a rover.

Kinda OT, but it really pisses me off that we only face Florida twice all year, and both of them are on the second half of a back to back for us.

Would like a better shot at facing the division leaders to decide our own placement

This blown lead isn't similar to the others. Two good teams that swapped 3-1 periods, then Leafs take the final period 2-1. It's a 60 minute game. This was just hockey. They won the 3rd period which is all that matters for this one (with a bit of help from Bincroft).

We'll play them 4 times. One has to be scheduled still. 3 are on the schedule. And one of the ones on a back to back Florida is also on a back to back.

This is all I've ever wanted. Love it.

It was beautiful to see. No one just standing around, not just trying to force passes. Active feet, active sticks and everyone moving around forcing the PKers to move out of their set up. Getting Matthews shot on Mikkolas side was so important. I can't remember who the LD was but he had Matthews lane completely smothered. Marner moving around as much as he did opened up a lot of lanes, hopefully we see more of the same going forward.

Character building 3rd period.
Hmmmmmm, if coming back to win was character building what was giving up a 3-1 lead earlier in the game.
Don’t get me wrong I’m happy they came back to win but I’m not so sure it was “character building”
Character building would be to not squander a decent lead. I know this happens from time to time by even the best teams but They do this way to often

Has anyone else noticed the production quality of broadcasts has gone way down? Not in a technical sense, but several times per game I'm finding myself questioning why they cut to a certain camera angle, and pretty much every play stoppage that wasn't preceded by a goal I'm left frustrated about them showing some mundane replay instead of something far more interesting, or player x catching their breath/ coach chewing gum instead of tracking a scrum.

Frankly I was shocked that they showed the Kyrou grab on Liljegren again. It almost seems like there's been a quiet mandate to avoid replaying questionable/controversial stuff unless it's completely unavoidable
