Should we remove Marner from the top PP ? :sarcasm: My god he's been phenomenal the last few games. Great game by everyone except Campbell/Lily. I thought Campbell sucked again, it's becoming a pattern. Not sure what's going on with him but he's been really bad recently. No chance this game should've went to SO or even OT, should've been a 5 goal game with how tilted the ice was. But glad we got the 2 points and kept playing after the Ducks tied it up.

With Soup's struggles I'm wondering how much of it is just not being able to get into a rhythm? He's had minimum 3 days off between every start since the new year with a bunch of 4 days off. It's hard to work out of problems when you barely have time to do so

I think your perspective is more likely than those saying he needs a rest.

Shouldn't have been close. Leafs dominated, but didn't put them away. Glad about the 2 points.

PP and PK were fantastic, as was the possession. Lets not forget the minimum 5 posts hit tonight behind a sharp Gibson.

Go watch a good Florida or Colorado game and see how they obliterate teams run up the score and skate then into the ice. They just go full throttle.
maybe the Leafs just don't have much finishing talent? They had no trouble doing whatever they wanted in the offensive zone, they just couldn't beat Gibson/the post

Don’t mean to derail the thread here, I’m sortve new on here but do we have a thread on our Leaf board to discuss other games? Was going to ask if anyone saw that Hall hit on Mackinnon and what they thought but didn’t want to change the subject in here. Don’t expect to many replies to this as I know this isn’t the thread to discuss.

They looked really good on the offensive cycle and creating chances but tonight I just felt like they could have crammed the game down Anaheim’s throats with a quicker, heavier game overall. I think they miss that finish them off mentality by weaponizing their skating and a few heavy forecheck shifts to knock the will out of the other team.

That's what the Leafs did tonight except Gibson kept them from actually running up the score. Florida and Colorado have both had games where they flat-out dominated and ran into a hot goalie. That doesn't mean they didn't dominate.

I thought the Leafs completely controlled the play pretty much the entire game.

If we see these Leafs in the playoffs I'll be a happy camper. Crazy that's Matty, JT, Mitch, and Willy could realistically all finish the season at a PPG. Heck you can even throw Mo in there for having a chance at it.

We probably won’t agree on this one. My issue was more on the pacing of the game which allowed Anaheim to casually stay in the game even if they were dominated from a puck time, zone and shot count point of view. The other would be adding a disruptive attrition game where they can forecheck, frustrate and knock a team out of the game once in a comfortable lead. Of late, the Leafs just don’t know whether to sit back or keep playing when they go up on a team.

Rakell shot the puck into the net all pissed off after Campbell saved the final shot. Very uunsportsmanlike
I think it was more of a reflex action than anything else.

Kind of like when the young Patrik Laine fired the puck into his own net and then had to quickly pull back his celebratory fist-pump when he realized what he'd done. That made me laugh.

You come down the ice focused on scoring, and it's just second nature to knock the rebound in. You could do that without even thinking about it -- until maybe next time.

I don't think it's a big deal.
