OK, time to roast...

Freddy's job got stolen by one of the guys playing tonight because Freddy was so garbage last season. While Campbell rocked a .900 save% on the PK , Freddy put up one of the ten worst PK save% of the last 10 years behind the same unit.

I mean, ask Freddy what its like to get outplayed as a backup by Hutch.

I always thought he was a great goalie and was always rooting for him to get it back togther but one thing that bothered me about him rebounding this year was that it confirmed so many out there saying he's too mentally soft for this market (and big games) and he flat out quit on the team when we needed him.

/rant off.

agree for the most part, but the bolded I don’t agree with. We didn’t need him. Even if he had prime Andersen (2016-2019) we would’ve still lost against the habs. He wasn’t gonna have a better SV% than a .931

Freddy was clearly playing injured and was done here. Worst case Canes GM gambled on Freddy and won. Sorry if you can't handle it.

he was terrible at the end of the Covid pause too. It’s the allstar game curse.

sit jack for a week and let him get back on track

Hot take:

I'd probanly start Campbell against Washington (or get him back in for thr next game at least).

I 100% do not believe Mrazek can help us beat Tampa or Florida.

We should definitely look into a Fleury trade and see if he would be willing to come to Toronto, but if he's not then Campbell is probably our best option (I don't know if there are many (or any) available goalies out there better than Campbell.

I also think Fleury could be a huge help as he struggled with the mental side of things for a few years before really turning things around which might make Fleury a good mentor for Campbell.

Also if Campbell plays like he did in the last playoffs we have a fighting chance and I think his goaltending in that series is better than what we can expect from Mrazek.

Yea this 100%
Mrazek with the canes couldn’t even scratch tampa. Yes they lost depth, but he got killed by their top guys, who still are there

if we have any chance to win, it’s with another goalie, or Jack.

Considering the Leafs had the best defensive numbers of any team in the playoffs and Campbell put up an .880 the last 3 games including that Bester special in game 7, I would have given him a look for sure.

Eh, great performance outside of that eight-minute stretch to start the third period. Those five fast goals were disturbing, though. This team needs to stop pulling that kind of shit.

Fun to watch, but let’s move on from this one quick.

Also, amazing Willy is able to produce at all with that boat anchor JT tied to him.
