Ick.

But I would rather the Leafs make it screamingly obvious they have a goaltending issue and WIN 10-7 against the Red Wings, then make it screamingly obvious they have a goaltending issue and LOSE 10-7 to the Red Wings.

I don’t know if DET thinks they have goaltending problems after last night…but there is a post somewhere that shows Campbell had the highest save percentage in the game.

Ok, it's time to get serious about the goaltending

Give Campbell 2-3 weeks off, tell him to disappear and have himself a holiday

Call up Kallegren to backup Mrazek and use him as the starter for the next month

If Mrazek does well he keeps on starting and we hope like hell the reboot sorts Campbell out for the backend of the season

I pointed this out a couple weeks before it he really went South. He looks tired. He’s never played this much. Give Petr the net for 3 weeks.

I’m still not convinced he will bounce back though…

If he’s really tired now, could he withstand a a long playoff run? He was below par in games 5-7 last year against Montreal.

Goalies are definitely frightening right now. I'm going to stump for Cambpell for a while longer, but he needs to get it in gear if we're going to have any hope in the playoffs. He was brilliant for a long time, this is tough to watch.

What a Leafy game. Shame we can't just let Marner have a nice thing, or just revel in the 10 goals. Gotta make it a mess cuz we're the Leafs!

My take on the Friedman Muzzin comment is that the Leafs have put that out there to try to not telegraph that they are going to use all that space and to pay lip service to the cap rules.

Time will tell but every micro move they are doing is maximizing LTIR space, not conventional space, so I’ll be shocked if they don’t hold Muzzin out at least until the playoffs.

Yeah, Dubas and Pridham are not being as strict with their cap management since Muzzin got injured. Definitely signs they will dip into that LTIR cap space.

Yes Jack was. 840 last night and that was the highest of all goalies last night.

Not convinced this team has progressed from the play-off defeats yet and I still think there's a nasty hangover in existence from the manor of the recent play-off defeats and giving up leads.

Hope they figure it out, but part of me thinks they need to value some of the uglier sides of the game before that will happen.

Hope i'm wrong, but I still see a soft underbelly, waiting to be exploited by the more ruthless and cynical teams.

Kampf has been fine at 3C...why do we need a 3c?

I agree he has. I think he's better suited to be a 4C. I feel we need more depth up front to be a contender. Didn't mean to take a shot a Kampf, he's played really well this season. I just see him on a championship team as a 4C.

Does David Ayres let in the 5 goals that Campbell and Mrazek gave up in the 3rd last night?

For those of you obsessed with "advanced stats" this should tell you something.

Yup, it's just one game but it's scary. Much more scary is the long term trend - we have the worst goaltending in the league and our D ranks 18th in expected goals against since Dec 1. At least that's what they said on the broadcast during the MIN game, don't think it's gotten any better since then.

Advanced stats to asses players are basically useless IMHO but for assessing teams if the sample size is big enough is another story. We were able outscore our horrific defence last night but this is not how you win in the playoffs.
