Post-Game Talk: Leafs win game 3 5-2

Better when they dominated 5 on 5 and had nothing to show for it I guess.

i dont think hes saying we have won the series, hes simply stating that TB isnt going to lie down and die and hand it to us, so people expecting to dominate every game arent being realistic.

Far too much fumbling the puck in the defensive zone as well and instead of crisp passes out of the zone, tons of button-hook turns.

lmao those three look effective despite the puck not going in, even Willy does to me. Tavares, not so much.

How many chances did Kucherov create compared to Tavares? Compared to Point?

No matter how bad we get at even strength at times everyone suddenly becomes superstars when we're down a man lol

I find it's 50/50. People who love Holl hate Boosh. And people who love Boosh hate Holl.

I love Boosh. But I 100% don't think he should partner Rielly. I never have done. Not that it matters but I would've gone Rielly/Brodie, Giordano/Lily, Muzzin/Boosh.

Exactly.

Holl had the one pinch which led to his penalty against. Fine. It wasn't the only bad pinch in the game on either side though. He just got burned the worst.

I think I counted a couple of times on the cycle where he could have been a little bit cleaner. Otherwise, he was solid the rest of the game.

Lyubushkin was flubbing cycles all game long. As soon as the puck was on his stick, it was a disaster waiting to happen and the best plays he made were effectively deferring to Rielly and letting him do all of the work. Lyubushkin is great at physical matchups, but he is useless everywhere else. He is effectively a younger Bogosian, and Bogosian is a 6/7 defender at best on a good team.

BUT, for me the real question is more who DESERVES to be in the lineup, him or lily?
i think we all know the answer honestly
 
Seemed like there were some nerves in the opposing barn of the 2-time cup champs in a team that has had playoff failure in the last 5 years.

Hopefully getting that win on the road early helps steady some nerves so that they can make more plays with the puck. I noted a lot of urgency with the puck which led to passes that weren't as crisp.

One was a high sticking on Blackwell. It was legit just like Lyubushkin's was.

One was a cross check in the numbers on Kase. Tell your team not to be stupid and undisciplined.

Cernak at the end of the period was the only one which maybe he can have a gripe about, but once again, your team was stupid and undisciplined. Cernak thought he could be the 2nd man but the refs were not having it, and he got burned.

Meanwhile, the Holl holding penalty was not a penalty. Holl played Hagel clean and Hagel held onto his stick and wrapped it around him before falling. That should not have been a penalty but at the same time, good on Hagel for selling it well and Holl has to make sure it doesn't not happen in the first place. Not blaming the refs on that one; Hagel earned that sell job.

That "hook" on Muzzin was barely even a hook. There were a bunch of those kinds of plays on both sides and none of them were called, even on drives to the net.

Ultimately, it was 3-3 in PP's if you take out the two objective delay of game calls, and Tampa even got away with a trapezoid violation (albeit a minor one). It was 7-4 last game and we didn't have any delay of games or anything, and we were called a lot tighter than Tampa was today.

Cooper shouldn't be complaining about the refs right now. His team is getting the advantage and is just absolutely sucking with it.

He wasn't complaining as much being critical of his own team. He's done the same through the regular season, Tampa being one of the more penalized teams in the league.

 
Worst lead in hockey is a 3-0 lead. And Leafs certainly showed why. They let up and suddenly Tampa was off life support and had yards instead of inches to make plays.

Possibly the most uncomfortable I have been watching a game in like, EVER>

Campbell should be taken out tonight for a few glasses of champagne, my god, he played great. We were asleep for all of the third.

But as bad as it was, Tampa must all feel like they got kicked in the caboose. Cause that game was theirs to take.

Oh and my god, what does Holl have on Sheldon Keefe? Sitting Lilly for this guy? Criminally stupid.
 
I didn't come in here during the 3 games and thought I'd take a peek in here tonight after the game. Not surprisingly "some" posters are acting like we lost the game ffs... Some even are saying Marner did not play well...He was all over the ice, killing penalties, on the puck, blocking shots, making plays... Not sure he can play much better... We played well for a large portion of the game and survived the pressure when Tampa took it to us. They are the two time defending Champs... Do some of you expect them to roll over?.. SMH

Had to watch on a "tape delay".

Amazing win. Campbell made the big saves when they were needed (something that has been missing the previous 6 playoff seasons).

Any of the struggles Liljegren has pale in comparison to the shit pile that is Holl.

Amazing that we can beat Tampa in a road playoff game with our top 2 lines kind of just existing.

David f***ing Kampf!!!
