Got the win which is important. Didn't play well but Keefe sent a message in the 3rd and they responded. Top line took over on the 3-2 goal after they were seperated which is good coaching again.
Jack was really good and kept them in it long enough. Abruzzese was meh but first game so it's fine. Simmonds looks like a different player recently. Nylander was the only guy going early and he kept it up

20 minute game but that was an entertaining 3rd. Maybe want to clean up the breakdowns on the first two goals against.

Simmonds dummied that McEwen, Marner and Matthews are insane, and Willy-JT looked good too.

Campbell was fine, nice to see him back.

Reilly really racking up the points with his new physical partner.

Simmonds was the only Leaf really physical tonight. I hope the Leafs don't gravitate away from their more physical play of the last couple of weeks.

A grinding first couple of periods, then the Leafs turned.it up. Simmonds going back in time when he dominated in that arena in another jersey.

That goal by Tavares meant a lot to Tavares and Nylander.

They just need to realize that it's their defensive problems that are the issue.

Good teams win when they play bad, thats what we did.

We really seem to play up or down to competition pretty consistently, we're typically sharper against good teams than bad teams. I would hope that's a good sign for the playoffs.

I feel better about the goal tending. Campbell wasn't his best. He moved well, seemed more like himself. The first round is going to be intense. Hopefully Campbell can handle it.

51 for Matthews!
JT getting hot!

On a side note with the Leafs winning and Isles in the gutter TWS gone incognito don't see him on the mains or the Isles board

What do you mean? He was never a Leafs, or Isles, or Columbus fan, he's always been a Florida/Boston/Tampa fan as well as whoever else is convenient or has beaten the Leafs or had a controversial trade with them recently.

They were really pumped up for the previous three games so it's no surprise that they took a bit to get going against a non-factor team like Philly right now. I'd classify that as a "professional win" (meaningless term, BTW) and get ready for a tough trip into Florida.

It’s good to know though that should we see him in the playoffs he’ll be able to give this type of performance.

The Leafs need him to bring this. Sitting players from time to time while rotating other players in can keep players on their toes and let them reset their approach.

Keefe has been clesr about wanting a more team oriented game and more physical approach. Simmonds can bring this while even chipping in from time to time.

The first goal for the Leafs is big in a game like this. They don't want to go down by two.
