Bunting has been an awesome addition to our team.

Hyman was definitely bigger and faster but didnt have Bunting's offensive creativeness.

Much better at making small area skill plays to find Matthews/Marner and not as many offensive plays are dying on his stick.

This is the type of homerun type move you need to find when paying your big stars alot of cap space.

Bunting, Kampf, Kase, Ritchie, Mrazek - HR, 2B, 1B, K, K - not a bad day at the plate

Classic game where team exerts only as much energy as it needs to win a game .. rope a dope for 2 periods and then do what it takes to win in 3rd period.. low event game and got 2 points which is what counts .. smart

TCB: Wayne Train wears his guns outside his pants, for all the honest NHL to feel.

It kinda does, there is something to be said for experience. Bieksa has actually lived the life of a NHLer, Jennifer has not. I'd tend to listen to the person who has actually experienced what they are commenting on vs someone who has an opinion with no correlating life experience.

You're in the woods, you have a broken arm, you got a Dr on the phone and Botteril there in person. The Dr is telling you how to stabilize the broken bone , Botteril is telling you how to do it but its is not consistent with the professional who has done this before. Who's advice do you take as the best course of action? Experience matters.

To suggest that people don't agree with Botteril because she is a woman is so needlessly manipulative. Believe it or not, there have been a few cases of a woman being wrong.

Okay, and what happens then when another NHLer inevitably agrees with Boterill, which would happen. Bieksa is no authority on what is best for hockey.

And there is nothing remotely manipulative about what I said. Several people on this board have made their viewpoint regarding Boterill and virtually all women we see on the broadcast very clear. Which is why I said SOME

The idea that Bieksa’s opinions automatically hold more water in all NHL matters because he played and someone else didn’t is asinine

100% it does. 😂
She had an opinion that she’s entitled to but it’s just an opinion. Bieska spoke from experience, Shirley you can see the difference.

As I stated before, all the information relevant to having an opinion here is plainly visible. Bieksa’s experience doesn’t hold any value to this particular debate

And again, I ask what happens when inevitably other NHLers agree with Boterill? Because plenty will.

It’s also the only professional team sport in North America where you don’t see players:

- dance like cocky idiots after they score a goal
- stand over opponents and flex their biceps after they’ve drilled an opponent with a hit
- toss their hockey stick and stare at the opposing goalie when they score a goal

Do I think fighting should be as common as it is in the nhl? No

Do I think fighting goes overboard (like this incident)? Yes

Do I think dirty players and cocky players needing to know they may get rag dolled for being stupid is a good thing? Yup

Policing dirty play is the leagues job. You don’t need fights to do so if the DoPS does it’s job.

And who cares if a player is cocky and celebrates? Who does that actually harm other than their ego?

Good way to put it.
Giordano and Lybushkin would be considered extra base hits as well.
Adding to it that we came out of the TDL without trading:

Knies, 1st, Topi, Robertson, Hirvonen Liljegren, Sandin, and Holmberg? That's a sweep of the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays......

Hart is garbage lol. I think he was just overhyped.

I don’t think he was developed properly at all.

Flyers rushed him which is a big mistake for goalies because when that mental confidence goes, it can be really hard to develop.

He played 18 AHL games before being called to the show.

She had her opinion and was certainly passionate about it and entitled to it. I agree with her to a degree but not in this instance.

Bieksa had it spot on. He said pretty much what I thought when I had first seen it. It had nothing to do with a skill play but digging the goalie in a 5-0 game. He deserved a cross check there and that should have been the end of it. I wish the Leafs defense brought more of that when the goalie gets chopped.

Beagle should have let up once he saw who he was engaged with. Looked like he lost control for a minute, I’m sure he regrets it.

Simmonds played the enforcer role perfectly tonight, IMO.

And the entire sequence has been spun into "beating up players for too much skill" bullsh!t...you wonder what kind of intent for someone to spin it like that...it's certainly to add credence to their own opinion about the league.

It's such a bad look on some people here when they get all bent out of shape over either of these things happening:

a) a woman expresses a hockey opinion
b) a non-NHLer or non-former NHLer expresses a hockey opinion

Jennifer Botteril is both, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the position she took on the broadcast. She is fully entitled to that opinion and the mere fact that Bieksa played in the NHL doesn't make his opinion any more valid here than hers.
its pretty much all we have on here syph and a lot of people lose their composure when someone expresses a differing opinion

Even when the league does its job properly (which they often don’t), their decision doesn’t dissuade players from being dirty and doesn’t benefit the team that suffered. When sketchy players skate around knowing that if they do something stupid they may have to pay a price. Watch the documentary called enforcers. There you’ll hear how star players really appreciate having teammates that keep things in order. I agree, enforcers aren’t needed. It’s a wasted roster spot and staged fighting is stupid. But tough players that defend their teammates are necessary. I can’t imagine the way players would treat CMD if a guy like kassian wasn’t there reminding guys to stay reasonable out there.

And I care if players are cocky in hockey. I have kids that I try to teach to be humble. Work hard in all that they do and don’t crap on others to boost their own egos.

I also coach more than one sport. Always telling the kids to have fun and set a positive example for their teammates. I don’t want any kids growing up cocky. Act like you’ve done it before. Celebrate. Don’t boast
