Post-Game Talk: Leafs win 5-4

Mrazek basically giving the Andersen level of goaltending. Very good for most of the game, and then 1 or 2 goals against that are just... not good. I wouldn't say he was bad because the Leafs were certainly not great infront of him but he needs to be better.

I thought Clifford was really good tonight. Very noticeable. Probably doesn't want to leave the roster with Mikheyev coming back soon.

Rubins was not very good tonight, he seemed to struggle with the forecheck. Holl was fine but it's easy to hate him for anything I guess.

Overall just a weird game with bad goaltending.

Lmao never been convinced of Holl, and got a straight shellacking from a prominent board poster here.

We won, take the two points and run, hope Mrazek can make some saves to make him easier to trade for Campbell's contract.

This team has to get back to basics and seek an identity of strong defense and persistence on the puck. Another high flying circus act that will spell doom in the post-season.

Yes, PPs are part of the game, but if Leafs didn't strike with them tonight, the Hawks go home with two points.

Agreed with Mrazek. That level of chaos goaltending is not a positive for calming a team down. Ten bell saves and random bounce goals against. First game back in a long time but he needs to be quieter and provide stability.
 
Very concerning win

Nylander and Tavares were pretty useless after their 3 points
Matthews was dangerous and the best forward
Rubins had a rough game
Holl should be shot into a black hole
Mrazek was ok for his first game back, but he should be much better

a win is a win though so let’s move on

A good team will beat a bad team even when the good team plays bad.

People need to face the fact that we have a good team that sometimes plays bad.

Terrible defenisve structure once again in the 2nd and 3rd, soft turnovers and on the wrong side of the puck. Until they clean that up the games are going to look like this.

That being said, Mrazek was both good and bad (kinda like the skaters in front of him). Good NHL goalies do not let in goals #2 and #4... He made 2-3 excellent saves too, but what is the point if you are going to let the softies in instead?

A win to head out on the road is a good thing. We have 4 tough games ahead, and I hope they find it in themselves to tighten things up or this road trip is going to suck. Also, I hate Holl.

Hockey gods helped us out at the end. The D needs a couple practices dear lord. There is no fixing Holl. He should be the 7th d man when Sandin is back.

Good 1st. Sloppy 2nd and 3rd.

Onto Edmonton. It'll probably be high scoring seeing as both teams don't remember how to play D anymore and some of the best players in the world offensively mixed in.

I thought they deserved better against Tampa so this makes up for.

Also, Rubins only getting under 9 minutes of ice time, is disgusting. He pretty much benched him after Holl’s horrible mistake on the 3rd goal.

Outplayed by a fair bit. Defence has gone too shit. Far too many rush chances, in particular.

If we play like this against Edmonton, we will get lit up

Feels good man. Way to get the two points. Huge makeup with Tampa loss.

Team has played a lot of games and faced some adversity. Not gonna be Roses all the time like November. Glad they gave Mrazek some support.

Hard to stay focused all 60. That bounce was a beauty.

I think it was the second or third goal where he was screened but he tried to catch the shot, that’s a mental thing more than anything and should not happen.
