you think he's being showcased by getting 5 minutes with 4th line players and no PP time? Seems a bit unlikely to me
With the little pro scouts have seen him, playing NHL minutes gives them an idea of where his game is at and what his potential might be. I don’t believe the Leafs are as high on him as some fans are. He might be their third or fourth best prospect at the moment.

I’m an honest fan , he deserves it with his recent play and todays game …..
He deserved the shhhhhh earlier this year and most of his NHL career …
I’ll never just throw dirt for no reason
Cheers

Engvall is good player and cheap which is important these days. Yes he’s big and could be more physical but that goes for half the team. He a great puck carrier and is tough to move off the puck. Not sure why so many fans hate him?

Would love to see Robertson get a shot higher up the lineup with some PP2 time. Give him a chance to show if he belongs.
He doesn’t yet. He’s hardly played as a pro with all his injuries. He needs to dominate in the AHL for a season before he’s ready and The Leafs are in win now mode. They actually need to add a big, tough LW for the second line and Robertson doesn’t fit the bill.

Does anyone know if there’s been any talk of Crouse being on the trade block? I could swear that earlier in the season, there was, but I haven’t heard a peep about him for a while now.

Mrazek deserves love for this game. 2 of the 3 goals were basically unstoppable tips, the shorty from Wilson was stoppable, but not a bad goal, a hard and well placed shot from a prime shooting position. He also came up with a number of big saves.

Holl and Mrazek have been common whipping boys this season, often for good reason, but they were both very good tonight. The team played well in general - Caps tried to goon it up, but we fought back and played through it well.

Not really, the kid is only 20 and played only 38 last 2 season amd its not on a 4th line they will know what his potential is. Keefe /dubas just gave him a candy because of his work ethic in the AHL until he go back in AHL for the rest of remaining season. But his talent still pretty high, toronto just taking time to develop well their player.

Petr was decent, all we'll need most nights.

JT setup that 2nd goal for Willy too, and nice work on the winner.

Bunting needs to avoid the box, he's being watched.

Good win against a tough team.

that’s really hard when the refs are literally making up penalties against you. The interference penalty he got last game, and the tripping this year were just awful. Total phantom calls

Robertson learning the speed of the NHL.

He made a nice play in his minutes, but otherwise was trying hard and working hard.

And he's getting NHL money.

No shame in going back down when it happens.

As well as the team played I didn't think Liligren played very well in this one.

So glad the Caps didn't pull ahead at the end so OVI could get another garbage EN goal to add to his garbage time baby-fed totals. 5:29 out of 6 minutes on the powerplay pfft. Minus 4 looks good on ya ovi.

Anyone complaining about Robertson's ice-time, the 4th line, in general, saw almost no ice-time at 5v5, all of them around 5:30-6 minutes.

If you have an issue with him not getting PP time, that is fair (maybe he will but doesn't know the system well enough yet, not sure), but I wouldn't push him further up the lineup just to give him more ice-time in a tight-checking game like last night, I don't think he is better than anyone in the top 6 and the 3rd line has been awesome.

Favorite stat of the game: Matthews with 5 hits to lead the team
Yup, and it was noticeable all night. Felt like that entire top line played with an edge last night and it seemed to trickle down the lineup. Matthews is usually a dog on the forecheck regardless of being physical. He's just so unbelievably good with his stick that he really doesn't need to engage in those physical battles all the time, but my god was he a force yesterday.

You gotta wonder if there is a Bunting effect on his play. I know him and Bunting are really close, but that trio just seems to be rubbing off on one another like I've never seen before. It seems as though Mitch and Auston are getting increasingly more tenacious as Bunting is getting increasingly more skilled and confident.

I can't remember ever watching a Leafs line dominate the way they have been able to dominate these past couple weeks. They are all over the puck. Feels like they are good for 2-3 goals a game every game.

Loved the urgency to Auston's and Mitch's game yesterday. That game had some bite and energy and they rose to the occasion. Something that has not always been the case for either one of them, Mitch especially.

It was a kind of playoff game yesterday.

Wqshinton played well too and didnt gave any space free to leafs. Leafs won because of a tremendous effort particularly by jt, marner, matthews, bunting and holl who was the 5 best player on the ice from both team. This is how and the only way to win a playoff serie
