you can really tell when poster watch and dont watch the game.

well yeah its pure bias .......
your always complaining about JT no matter what happens. He sould score 6 goals and you would complain about something. did you actually watch the game ? well if you did you would clearly acknowledge that JT was the second best forward on the ice. it has nothing to do with goals and points but every other aspect of the game. hockey is not always about points.
why do we complain about nylander ? not because he has points but he fails are pretty much everything else. when was the last time we said ,"nylander was a top 2/3 player on the ice tonight ?" in november ?

now we have devolved the tavares discussion to having no skill deflecting a puck and icing the puck on an empty net up by 2 goals not 1 but 2 , for a guy that is winning facoffs at a ludicrous 62% on the year :rolleyes::rolleyes:
i wasn't complaining about JT play last night other than him icing the puck , i'm simply saying neither of his goals will be up for goal of the year like you seem to believe

as far as Wilie goes . he didn't have much a game but that goal wasn't on him and he's just the most recent line mate of JT's to get shit on all to male Johnny light shine brighter

it's truly remarkable that in JT's 13 year NHL career the only winger good enough to play with him is Marner and even then Johnny had to carry him to be able to post a career high in goals

How f***ing bad is Ben Chiarot at hockey right now? I am so thankful we went for Gio instead of him. Words can't describe how thankful I am. But if they could, they'd look something like this:

My god he looked like a bag of dicks out there last night. Pretty sure he was on for every goal against.

On the other side, Gio is just crushing bottom pairing minutes like a monster. Just makes such strong reads and always disrupting the shooting lanes. I knew he was good when he was in CGY, but I'll be honest I never really paid much attention to his defensive abilities. I always kind of saw him more as an offensive guy. He is a steady presence down the lineup. It almost feels like we just added another TJ Brodie.

We've already got more value out of Gio in 3 games than we did with Foligno all last season.

Two posters who attended the game thought otherwise. Willie gets picked on for lack of effort because he can be great and proved it in the playoffs and the first half of the season. Don't think any other player's effort has been questioned..

Agreed
Was at the game myself as well, he was impressive, and that redirect from Marner a puck shot what looked like a foot off the ice was an incredible goal. He hustled hard and didn’t look slow at all IRL
So because they were at the game that means more?

I didn't like the swearing part sire, but other than that....

Given you appear to be trying to defend criticism of Willie by ripping JT and their objective opinion painting a picture closer to what I saw on TV, it does to me.
I'm trying to show how JT hasn't been good all year and Willie has been a lot better. I watch that line closely and Tavares hasn't been good. Anyone with a good eye can see he has been on a downward trent since his first year here and has been horrible this year.

So because two people were at a game and the fact they agree with your own opinion, that somehow validates what your saying? Gotcha. Great logic there.

Captain was a beast in this game no doubt.

But he hasn't been like that all that often.

If he brings that in the playoffs tho we're good

I was at the game, Mrázek was very good. Just my opinion, but he wasn’t swimming as much, swallowed pucks in many key moments , and made several A+ saves at key moments on the top offensive team in the league. He was excellent.

I was at the game too and didn't see it the way you did. He was fine, but I'd give the credit to the defense more than him, as they did a great job stopping the secondary chances off the rebounds he punts out.

I think your bar is just low as he's normally not an NHL caliber goaltender swimming around and out of position , but I would definitely call that solid, not excellent goaltending.

we'll agree to disagree.
Thought he made several key A+ saves, including one in the 3rd that was going under his left armpit from the slot and he closed the hole just in time . . .and as for your D playing better in front of him . . . . we got lucky a few times (Nylander dangling out of the low slot in particular was foolish and lucky, but there were a couple of others from Holl and someone else I think). Both goals scored against him were good goals. For my money, that was a -A goaltending performance.

No, my bar is not lower, I just have a different opinion.

Nobody is pimping the shit out of his play. Many are concerned about his decline but it is clear from your posts that you have a huge hate-on for the guy, and pretty much say so above. You are not off base in some of your criticism but your hate is at another level and might be tainting your opinions of him IMO. Up two with an empty net and you have a shot at the hat trick. Come on, how many players in today's game with all the analytics saying shoot it, don't take a shot at the empty net ?? Seriously if it was Matty or Mitch, would you be trashing them as you do JT ??

I'd say the same thing regardless of who it was and if Willie did that he'd be getting crucified , i understand younger players chasing stats to up there next pay check but f*** me JT is in his 30's and on his last big deal , he should be above that

and their's nothing to be concerned about JT declining , every player declines , it's how the team deals with the players decline that's the concern and what's concerning to me is there in denial , what they should be doing is playing to his strengths which is he's still good down low and on the boards and that's why i keep saying they should move him to AM wing where he'd be most effective

So up two last night with over 3 minutes to go, gotta ask for Johnny, did you call out Matty for being selfish for shooting at the EN in an attempt to pad his stats like you claimed JT tried last week ??
