Was at the game last night, terrific effort. I thought Mrazek had his best game of the year, made some massive stops. Referees were f***ing brutal my goodness. The 2 penalties on Holl were absolute horse shit, dude skates into him and falls, they call a trip. He gets out of the box, dude skates into him again and falls, interference. The play Engvall got called for a high stick, Kerfoot got high sticked literally 10 seconds prior no call. giraffe gets tripped no call, as hes falling his stick goes up and they call it a high stick. And then there was a few more trips in the 3rd that went uncalled as well, absolutely brutal. People were giving it to the refs.

Huge win and back into 3rd in the division, that Matthews goal was LOL. Great game though. Tavares/Nylander just don't work together, I know people don't wanna break up Marner and Matthews because of how dominant they are, but every single shift that Marner plays with JT, JT looks godly out there. He needs a playmaker to excel, Nylander just isn't that type of player.

Going to post this here too.

I think Keefe is a good coach overall but today that was an awful coaching display. 4th line out multiple times against the 2nd line? Probably the worst coached in his tenure. Keefe is usually fine with matchups so not sure what this was about.
Also don't know if he would, but playing Abruzzese against Boston would be something I applaud.
I get questioning the coaches decisions, but after beating the 2nd place team in the league?

So I guess Dubas assembled a team that can beat the best team in the division, lol.

Didn’t watch the game as I was working. Just saw the
Box score, it is strange that Leafs can score 5 against the best team in the division with about 20 shots while scoring 2 goals 50 shots against one of the worse teams in the league.
The Panthers had their back up goalie in net not their 10 million dollar star goalie…….so there’s that

It was a good win last night but I have 1 question.
the Panthers outshot the Leafs 32-23 and Mrazek was very good last night.
we then beat them 5-2 with only 23 shots so does that mean that Florida dominated us but got Goalie’d or is that only a thing when the Leafs lose

People can tell by watching the game and not looking at the shot clock or box score. Leafs were dominant, not as good as they were in Montreal but that's to be expected.

There’s a difference between getting outshot and outplayed. I thought it was pretty evenly matched with the play slightly in Torontos favour. Mrazek was good, no doubt, but he didn’t steal the game.

Other teams get goalied, the Leafs goalie teams, this was not one of those games.

Think back to the early season matchup with Tampa where they had 3 2-on-1 breaks in a row and Campbell came up with 3 massive saves before the Leafs tied the game at 1 late in the 3rd period. That’s getting goalied.

Agree with everyone about the 4th line. Time for a shakeup. The grey beards are looking mighty slow these days, no juice in the tank

Seeing the emergence of Timothy Liljegren -- the Viking. Five hits. Retaliation behind the net without a penalty when retaliation was clearly need. Good play with Gio.

He's really finding his game.

I hope he becomes the strong, fast, skilled, nasty top-four RHD that the Leafs so desperately need.

Lyubushkin with six hits. Eleven hits between Liljegren and Lyubushkin tonight, and a few more by Gio. This is the edge that Leafs have needed for so very long.

Maybe next year the Leafs could play Brodie and Liljegren in the top-four, re-sign Lyubushkin for the third pair, and trade Holl to clear a roster spot.

Rielly, Muzzin, Sandin and maybe Gio on the left side?
So, Lily, the Viking, people asked how will he be in playoff hockey? And you hear from the commentators play the vets!
Well, I think he answered that last night.
Both teams came out wanting this one, and it was hard played.
Lily just thrived.
Gio acquisition a double treat, he is playing great, and looks like a great match/mentor with Lily.
Go Leafs Go

I've seen people pencil in Knies and Abruzzes

is there a legit plan or people just want that? I havent seen Dubas or Keefe mention anything to that effect yet; or may be I missed the story
Abruzze is coming.
Knies is problematic. He is still playing in the playoffs, and is very young. More seasoning in college is probably appropriate, and he has a say in it too.
Abruzze is alrready 22, so it makes sense he wanted to come and skip his last year.
Knies is all of 19.

Compete is never a question for him. His bad games are usually because of execution. Absolutely still love the guy. He doesn't talk a lot but his leadership is through his effort. When he gets upset though, teams better be careful
Exactly this. Even last night, even though he got two goals from just sitting in front of the net, he didn't really do much else if you watch him closely...he wasn't impactful for majority of the game, missed passes, missed shots, losing the puck due being slow, getting checked, or just losing control of it. It's fustrating to see Nylander being picked on but no criticism to the player thats been the worst on that line all year.

No, it doesn't mean that at all. It was a very competitive game last night. If you want to see a game when one team dominated, but got out golie'd, watch Saturday's game against Montreal.

IMO I gave a slight edge to Florida 5 on 5 while the Leafs dominated the special teams.
Special teams was the biggest difference in determining the outcome.
