What’s with this trend of the Leafs getting PP’s early and then nothing the rest of the game?
it seems like the league is calling 2 penalties against the home team then nothing for the rest of the game. Has been happening in the last 5-6 games, thought I was the only one to notice.

Great points
Personally I think that our biggest challenge on our PP , is the lack of a big shooting gun at the point .
We have to many passers on the 1St unit …
A pP is like a Olympic team in a sense , so the best Olympic team has to be made up of a assortment of talents and possibilities of scoring from everywhere in different ways .
We don’t have that , we are to One dimensional and predictable and easy to defend in the playoffs ..
we need a point man that will spread out thePK unit ..

Agree, look at Bouchard in Edmonton tonight, going back to junior, great shot slap or wrist with a knack for getting it on net,

We beat a shitty team so no big deal. I'm super thrilled from Mrazek though, he played great and hopefully that'll shut up for a little while at least those people who were freaked out about his SV% after him playing 4 games in 3+ months or whatever.

Guy has played 4 games in 4 months for a new team. Normally I agree with the mob but in this case, we need to chill out and let him play a few games before handing down judgement.

Felt as though he was great in this one and thought him to be good enough the previous time too. His track record has shown him to be a goalie that can be part of the solution at the very least and that just might be what we're starting to see here.

One more game like that, and Mrazeks save % will be above .915. With some few games played, one or two good/bad performances in a row can swing things fast.

Give him the weaker teams between now and the deadline, and see if you can rebuild him enough (lets say.910+) to get a positive return for him.

You don't think other NHL teams will realize that? It won't make a difference to his value, just like his value is much higher than people think it is on here.

I think if we are going into the TDL and feel safe trading him, his value will be different if he is a +.910 goalie instead of where he is now, -.900.
If Edmonton hasnt already filled the spot before the TDL, him having 20ish games under his belt and a league average save % will increase his value IMO.

Great response by the team today. Perfect script that we had to hold a lead. I thought the young D bounced back decently but can be way better

Hey combined 2nd pairing has less than 100 NHL games.

You are correct, it isn't like they're 25 year old veterans, reasonable thought should expect them to get better.

So either Mrazek was good or the defense was good enough, or both.

They won and I thought they only had a few rough spots. With all the accolades ancient Lou gets and how Leafs management is so inept something doesn't add up.

Love slapping the Isles, always great to see TWS and company go back into hiding. My god is that fanbase cringey, get over it lol he's been gone for 3 years they're still salty about it. Refs were garbage near the end of the game, Isles got away with a couple missed calls. Good game overall, I thought Matthews was gonna score for sure, he was buzzing. Marner looked really good again too. Good for Mrazek as well, huge confidence boost.

3-2-1 playing our worst hockey all though today was a good game. I'll take it.
I have noticed you be more positive lately. Anything to that? Not calling you out just wondering.

Watching any team go against the Islanders is a sheer cure for insomnia, always a snoozefest whenever they play. I'm happy with the win, so boring was fine this time around.

Mrazek had his first good game with the Leafs, as he's been terrible his other four games. Nice to see he finally had a good game. Not a fan of his game, never have been and never will be, but he did his job and did it well, so good on him.

I harp on Engvall a lot, but he's shown some versatility the last few weeks. He's a good depth player to have, had a fantastic effort on that buzzer beater goal, which ended up being the game winner. He's always shown tons of speed, but his hockey sense has never been that good. Great utility and depth player. He's definitely an improvement over Ritchie, that's not even up for debate. I just wanted to give longneck some kudos for a change, cause it won't happen again for awhile I'm sure.

Liljegren had a nice bounce back game. Even when he took a big hit and was down to one knee, he still made a nice pass out of their zone.

Nylander has fantastic vision and Reilly saw the benefit of that. What a beautiful pass that was. Reilly had a fantastic night offensively, but defensively as well. When he took away that play on his belly, he shows why most Leafs fans were happy he decided to sign a long contract with the Leafs. He and Brodie work very well together.

Matthews was buzzing all night and had a lot of good looks, but didn't capitalize. Marner was also buzzing around and making a lot of nifty plays. Really love that Keefe decided to put him on the penalty kill. His speeed and skill shows one of the reasons why that was a good idea.

The Leafs played decent and it's nice to see a boring, keep the lead win. Maybe Mrazek can earn some more starts and help take some of the pressure off of Campbell. If he continues to do well, it'll earn some confidence with Keefe, as it doesn't take much more than common sense to see that he hasn't had much faith in him given the few starts he's had since he's come back off surgery. I'm more happy to see Mrazek in a back-up role and not as a tandem as management had envision. I don't feel Mrazek has it in him to go the distance and be relied upon for 25+ more games. We'll see if he makes me eat my words, as I've been happy to be wrong before.

The Leafs have been lights out great since their 2-4-1 start, they have only had 6 regulation losses since then. So while they've faltered as of late, it's not like they went on a six game losing streak. I've been so used to them winning all the time and Campbell keeping the goals to 2 or less for a few months that as a fan it's humbling to see the Leafs get scored on so much the last few weeks. I like to talk smack to Leafs haters off the board, so eating humble pie for a few weeks is okay with me. The Leafs can't win every game, I try to minimize my anger when they do bad, but I'm emotional about my favorite team. I don't watch any other sport other than hockey. To me, it doesn't get any better than hockey. I love my Leafs, for better or worse and last night, they were better.

A poster on that forum actually said: Not making excuses but the emotions of Gillies could be weighing on them. Most of these guys have been islanders for a while and Gillies was close to the team...

Terrible excuse.

It is a process.

Build the better roster and be willing to make change.

3rd. line is legit.

Be nice to see them make the fourth line a young energy line that can Hound the other team.

I don’t mind Simmonds on the 4th line. Spezza as much as I love him has really lost a step in his game which is understandable given his age.
