Dewar is already officially back. Hakanpaa was at practice today so likely will be officially recalled very soon. Treliving said all he needs is his medical clearance.

i'd be okay with that if haka can handle the TOI aspect, but, even if split shifted, OEL moves up for a few shifts, would still work

The only surprising thing is that he lasted this long before being waived. I figured it would be instant after the trade was processed. But some players being on IR/conditioning made it possible to keep him around for a while.

There’s already tons of D on the Marlies anyway before Benning/Mermis are considered and still potential for Myers being waived in time, too.

Benning needs to play regularly to prove he is healthy. He cannot do that as a 7th or 8th defender in the NHL.
Him playing in the AHL is good for everyone involved.
