Post this in the series thread on the main boards.

They will just say that we got away with a bunch of calls without any tangible proof (because it doesn't really happen) and say that we have been very undisciplined, when we haven't been. There have been a lot of borderline calls against us.

There have been two different standards for most of this series. It is not really Tampas fault, outside of the ridiculous diving that has gone on far too often, but they are certainly benefitting from it.

Exactly. I feel it will be a repeat of last years game 7. Price shut out the Leafs till Nylander scored a meaningless goal. Maybe it will be different with the fans in the building. If they are eliminated I hope this is the last we see of Dubas, Keefe, Campbell and Nylander.
Nylander, maybe. Campbell, probably.

But Keefe & Dubas still took this team to a franchise record breaking season - its a cruel reward, getting TB in round 1. But it is what it is

I'm kind of in the same boat. Not sure I can watch it live.
It's my fiances best friends wedding tomorrow night. I have accidentally injured my back at work today and will be unable to attend. Although I may be feeling slightly better around 10, 10:30 so I may show up late. Either way i'll be getting f***ing blasted, either to drink away my sorrow or celebratory drinks.

The first thing that should stick out to everyone in this is the INSANE discrepancy in penalty minutes in Tampa's wins vs our wins.

Officiating has no effect on this series eh? You're legitimately a sped if you believe that.

Adjusted penalty minutes being what is described in the reddit post: fighting majors, boarding majors, pucks over glass, too many men (you must realize this is doing Tampa a massive favor excluding all of this)
Game's 2, 4 and 6 combined adjusted penalty minutes against Toronto: 40 minutes
Game's 2, 4 and 6 combined adjusted penalty minutes against Tampa: 22

Like what the flying f*** even is this? In the games they've won we've gotten almost double the f***ing penalty minutes?!?!

There is no conceivable way in hell you can deny that officiating hasn't influenced this series to the core.
On the game feed I watched (the one with Biz Nasty etc on the panel), the current betting odds are flashed onto the screen several times a game. This overt association with gambling is THE KEY to knowing the games are now influenced through the referees.

This is insanely huge business, regardless of which sport. Example: I watched the Canelo-Bivol fight from Vegas last weekend. Canelo a wide betting favorite. Bivol wins. The judges scores were biased so badly for Canelo, even though he was schooled the entire fight, that EVERYONE post-fight said it was fixed. Leave it to Teddy Atlas to illustrate how it was done (even if you are not a boxing fan, this is an eye-opener): on yootoob look up "anatomy of a fixed fight teddy atlas". (the exact link won't post correctly here).

I never caught that fight specifically (haven't followed boxing in a bit) but combat sports are absolutely horrible for fixing. My friend who follows boxing very closely said the same thing as you - Bivol handily outboxed Canelo almost the entire fight but they tried their damndest to give it to Canelo because he's the biggest draw in boxing.
The most high profile MMA fight ever featured Conor committing 26 fouls against Khabib Nurmagomedov (someone video'd all of it) and Herb Dean being the notorious go-to shill ref for the UFC letting all of it go. Conor still didn't come anywhere even close to winning because Khabib was just an astronomically better fighter.

This series is basically confirming to me that the NHL has gone down the same route.

Anyone who says the refs haven't influenced the series hasn't been paying attention. Both teams came into this with a gameplan. The refs derailed the Leaf gameplan almost immediately by targetting Clifford and Simmonds, making both of them such liabilities that the Leafs banished them to the press box. Which, of course, helps Tampa, as their more physical players are still in the lineup and aren't getting called for stepping on the ice.

And despite the Leafs banishing Clifford and Simmonds to the press box to try and lower their penalty totals, they haven't lowered at all! The Leafs made adjustments to match how the series is being called only to have the refs COMPLELELY IGNORE it...

BTW...

ya, i'm just as mad as you are. remember game 5? matthews got tripped on a legit penalty and the crowd was able to make the referee call a penalty. the crowd will be a huge factor for us next game. let's make tampa pay for not securing home ice advantage. go leafs!

Hope the players are in a better frame of mind than the "I don't think I can watch it" crowd.
Couldn't imagine being a fan and not wanting to watch this.
I said to my daughter, 'why don't we sell the tickets? We can put the money towards round two and if they should lose, we don't want to be there for that".
All she said was, "I'm scared to go but we have to, we can't miss this".
She's right.

The only silver lining of having game 7 is that the crowd is gonna be absolutely HYPE

The leafs can win, but the lightning could just come out and play a better game for the first time in the series as well, so everyone can just say see it wasn’t the refs. We lost to buffalo and Arizona a bunch, anything can happen. That last third period was a joke. I’m so over this shit.

As long as you don't know the result.....if you know the outcome, it completely removes the tension, suspense, and emotion. That's the entire point of being a fan of any sports team.

No it isn't.
