GDT: Leafs vs Preds

I don't believe Rielly - Holl was a frequent pairing in Keefe's tenure but they got 12 min of 5 on 5 icetime vs the flyers. Will be interesting to see if this pairing continues.

Fair point, I have no idea. They may as well though, they've already had ZAR, Holmberg, Simmonds, Hunt, Malgin, SDA, Anderson, Clifford, etc. filter through that fourth line. May as well keep trying until they find someone that really sticks in that RW position (though I do like Hunt).

I saw Hunt the last couple games and I don't know if it's seen on tv but he finishes every check which is a nice change. Wish they had more guys do that.

Any idea who's in net? We assume it's Samsonov based on the back and forth, but Murray tomorrow means we have him vs Boston Saturday..

Simmonds is the extra here though and he played last game. It's not clear if Hunt or McMann will be slotted in, but given a back-to-back situation I imagine McMann will get one of those of games at least.

I am hoping Murray will play Boston. I think Murray is most likely to be our playoff starter so may as well see how he does against the league's elites.

This kind of proves Matthews has been playing through something. If it's just a maintenance day, why is he a question tomorrow? I'd rest him tomorrow and Thursday and get him in Saturday. He gets almost a week of rest this way.
I actually didn't know we had a back to back this week. I thought it was game tomorrow and Saturday.

The Preds are a team that looks like it's maintaining and currently just outside the wild card. They score but not a lot, they keep some pucks out of the net but not like they used to, Saros though has good numbers the kind of numbers that we used to hope Andersen would have.

Toronto is a home favourite and by rights they should be. The Leafs with more defence and a lot more scoring should win going away as they used to say, but this just feels like "one of those" games you know those kind of games, that somehow turn into a trackmeet and last goal wins, or it's one of those low event low scoring games where the Predator Goaltender actuallu SHUTS the Leafs OUT! Yes I said it, the predators will rack up a shutout, they'll hold the Buds to no goals, don't laugh it could happen.

The Preds have won 4 in a row scoring 17 times while allowing 8 goals including last nights 38 save shutout in Ottawa.

With the day off we might end up getting their number 1 Saros tomorrow night, who over his career has only faced the Leafs twice and is 1-1-0 he has a .936 and a 2.56GAA. Lankinen has played the Leafs twice with an OTL and a L, he has an .879 and a 3.98GAA

Samsonov has seen the Preds twice is 2-0-0 with a .926 and 2.00GAA, If Matt Murray starts he holds a 4-1-0 in 5 starts(all with Pitts) with a .940 and a 1.98GAA with a SO
 
Interesting. Matthews should make sure whatever is ailing him gets rest. He’s not in any league scoring race, (although he is Selke-like this year), Willy gets to play centre (always good to have that option in the coaches back pocket), Engvall can prove he can fill in the top 6 if someone gets injured in the future. McMann gets to show if he is capable of playing NHL regular season games.

Im going to my first Leafs game Thursday in Detroit so he better be F*in playing

The nhl is also investigating murray's game itself. The crease moving. They have video evidense of it. Many times many games and they are looking into it hard
