Lessons for D men are learned over 4-5 seasons playing with a vet ... kinda makes me LOL when fans think D rooks pick things up in a game .. it is thousands of game reps in different situations

How wrong you are

Lessons are learned every single game in every single situation they haven't experienced before

Players can learn and put what they have learned into practice after just one game

That's what we call "improvement" or "getting better"

I know it's practically a meme but I'm calling this a must win. They need to put some whiteout on the last several games and I'm going to vomit if I have to listen to these cretins boo Tavares again combined with another effort like the last few. F that. Win this gawdamned game.

This is an ACADEMIC philosophy for ya youngins ... but it is NOT day-to-day reality of playing minor, junior or pro hockey ... I can tell you playing MTHL hockey for 7 years, O hockey for 4 years and 7 years in I that defenders learn from their vet partners over extended game reps .. one day of coaching practice or game certainly can help, and learnings are not linear and sometimes there is even regression if partners are not a good match ... but to think ANY defender is making serious game changing learnings after 1 game is believin in WILLY WONKA

Growing pains, you have to accept you're going to see them with young players

Bull****

I also played top level sport and I learnt lessons from day 1, it's called "gradual improvement"

Not 300 games and I'm the finished product but man did I suck up until then, didn't learn ****

They saw the Panarin line, it isn't getting harder than that and they will learn lessons from that

Food for thought. On the Kipper show, they said Toffoli said that once Muzzin went down, they knew they would beat the Leafs. He was not wrong.

Good call to give Mrazek the start.

I don't know that they'll win the game, but they need to do this.

Really need to get back on track. I believe the Islanders are starting to get back to their stingy defensive ways as well.
In their last ten games they are 7-2-1, and have allowed only 19 goals (14 in 8 games at home).

They've only scored 28, but yeah, stingy.

I guess the good news is that Ryan Pulock, their #2 defenceman, has been out with an injury since mid November.

Muzzin was the best Leafs D the last 2 playoffs when he went down and once you had to have the younger inexperienced guys try to fill his minutes, not to mention that Holl hasnt been great away from him, the team really suffered.

Just gotta hope we don't get destroyed by the injury bug to key players this playoffs. No team got hit worse last year.

We are also developing some young defenseman to

Hopefully we won't need them in the top 4 come playoff time but we need them to do that job now

Yea, should be good experience for them coming up. It's why I can't hold it too hard against Lily last game or even Sandin last playoffs as they are still learning as they go and not quite ripe yet.

They will learn lessons but I think his point is it will take 4-5 seasons for them to actually be good enough and comfortable enough to be relied upon in an all situation role
