I still think Tampa is the worst match up in the east, but I also think Toronto has a good chance. Even with a bad game like game 2 there are some very easy fixes.

Take a few less stupid penalties, don't allow 3 PP goals, and score on the PP instead of going 0-4. If they go 1-4 on the PP and let in one less PP goal suddenly the score is 4-4.

I dont think one of us believes Tampa to be any less than a top 2-3 team in the league when engaged... We are very aware of how great they really are but we also believe in our team
I’ve been quite impressed with the leafs. If you guys had a berter goalie then look out.

Leafs have a great team. I don’t think you guys will be able to beat us (because of Vasi) but y’all have a bright future!

Edit- why didn’t you guys lose the last game of the year to try to play Boston?

With all due respect, it should be 2-0 in this series, and Vasi hasn’t been all-world. It’s 7 or 8-2 at 5v5 in the series.

I frequently feel like Leaf games are reffed by the guys from Mutant League Hockey... After the other team has executed the "Bribe Referee" special play...

@OVO16 so… Spezza finally make your lineup yet?

Spezza and Clifford need to be in this lineup.

Who comes out?
Simmonds and …….. Tavares 🥸 (honestly Engvall or Blackwell)
I mean did Tampa take Maroon/Bellemare/Perry out after game 1?

I saw the overreactions to Simmond's penalty coming from a mile away. People were profusely looking for anything to make Simmonds a scapegoat and have Spezza in.

I mean yeah, I can totally see Spezza come in. We're gonna ice one of the softest lineups again but I guess doesn't matter.

There's no chance Engvall comes out. Blackwell is too versatile too come out. Not to mention he's a perfect 4th line center.

People overrate the shit out of 4th lines. Not like they get enough playing time anyways to make a difference on the scoreboard. The idea of a 4th line is a to create energy and havoc and wear the other team down.

That's why I've been a huge advocate for Simmonds and Clifford over Spezza in the 4th line. I have nothinjg against spezza, I just don't think his skillset is a fit for a Playoff 4th line.

But obviously, SImmonds penalty last game was blown out of proportion and Spezza will 100% be back in tomorrow.

If I had to guess, I say Kase and Simmonds come out. Clifford and Spezza in.

I just cant see Keefe taking out both Simmonds and Clifford against a physical Tampa team

Clifford - Blackwell - Spezza.

I cant see Keefe sitting both Clifford/Simmonds against a physical Tampa team

For anyone still missing Kadri...

Good news! We're getting all sorts of dumb penalties and suspensions this series. You'd never know he was gone.

I can't see it either but he needs to sit both. With last change Cooper will be trying to get his big guns out against our 4th line. Clifford and Simmonds are too slow to keep up. Kase/Blackwell/Spezza give us a chance to at least get the puck out, maybe even score a goal.

Besides the fact that Tampa also won what type of message does it send that you're scared to face a team when you'll actually have to face them if they win that same night, turns out there is nothing to be afraid of either.

I don’t see how it should be 2-0.

You guys scored on a marner flub, bad mcdonagh turnover and a short handed breakdown in garbage time.

Tampa will clean up that stuff. Honesty I feel like Vasi is just getting going. Last game you could see he was ready.

I’ve been really impressed with Mitch Marner. Best player in the series so far. I’ll give you guys that.

Maroon is one of it not the worst player in the NHL, but your 100 percent correct. It’s the energy and poise he brings

If the TB Lightning are so good, why do they need the refs favouring them? Put the whistles away except for dirty plays.

They really aren't calling anything that is not a PIM, our dummy coach came out and basically said its going to be a street war and we are ready to play that game and the Refs responded accordingly. No one wants to have to break up a fight against two 200lbs plus angry gorillas, so the refs are saying, fine you want to do that dumb stuff, we are going to stop it before it starts. The Leafs have been the aggressors, they have done stupid shit all series. If you have taken a PIM and not scored, you are the problem. They need to play smarter without the puck, that's not the refs fault, that is like blaming the wife for the husband cheating. First step is to own the stupid shit we are doing, second step is to stop the stupid shit we are doing, third is to breath and play our game, puck control, quick puck movement. If we play our best game and they play their best game, we are the better team, not by much but we are better. If we do stupid shit and give the TBL a chance they will burry us. This series will come down to special teams. It's that simple. Whoever wins the special teams war, will win the series.

IF we're splitting up JT and Nylander I'd want to see:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Nylander - Kerfoot - Kase
Mikheyev - Tavares - Engvall
Clifford - Kampf - Blackwell

But I think our best top 12 right now is

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - Kampf - Engvall
Kase - Blackwell - Spezza

I don‘t think its possible to overreact to Simmons’s penalty. Bunting just scored to make it a one goal game, and they looked like they were starting to get some momentum. Instead its 3-1. It was a dumb penalty and it came at the absolute worst time.

Is there any other team out there that has to put up with this much disrespect from their “home” broadcast? You could probably convince me it’s a Tampa broadcast.

They've seemed to have called half a dozen penalties on us right after we score.

Simmonds penalty was stupid, but worse was Kerfoot's. Leafs had just scored, crowd was into it, and he completely gave the momentum (and 2 goal lead) back to Tampa.

Or did I get the two confused? Tbh I was sick the other night. 😂

Bunting - Matthews - Marner (They've been great and are producing, keep together as no. 1 line.)
Kerfoot - Tavares - Nylander (I know JT and Will don't work together well but we need another line that can score. TB has last change, so all O-zone matchups for them)
Micky - Kampf - Engvall (Shutdown dominant transition line. Give them all D zone matchups vs. Stamkos line)
Spezza - Blackwell - Kase (Maybe a fourth line that is a least a threat to score, a lot faster than TB fourth line in nothing else)
