Keefe doesn't learn but at least he (temporarily) switched things up on L2
I stil feel like I can l think of several 5 on 5 moments. I mean, I don't think it'd be a ton more than the 5, but I'm just saying 5 seems too low from what I've seen, but same maybe could be said for Tampa's line. Either way, even if I'm right, they need to be a lot better...
We can talk about the defensive pairings to no end... but to me, this is the biggest problem. Matthews and Marner need to be better. Really unacceptable that it's that lop sided.
Fair enough, Boosh has been pretty bad too. But I would say Holl has been pretty damn lucky his multiple brain farts, lack of positioning, awareness and ability to read the play haven't led to more GA.You saw that exactly once during the past 2 games despite Holl playing PK, we saw this 4 times with Boosh on ice so far in the series despite Boosh recieiving very little PK time and contributing nothing during the transition.

Those stats is strictly Point vs Matthews, which has mostly been the last 2 games. When Matthews got away from Points line, usually on an icing or during a PP, that's when Matthews line got a lot better.
Either way, the bottom line is that an MVP like that should be not getting dominated in 5 on 5.
For what it's worth, while we indisputably need more from Matthews and Marner on the road, I think the more concerning development than Matthews/Marner not being able to fight through Tampa's best 5 defensive players stapled to them just about every shift, is that the 2nd rung of guys are not finding production the matchups left after Matthews and Marner take on all those guys. Namely Tavares and Nylander.
I feel like everytime they talk like this they completely crap the bed...
100% agree. I just think it's about time the franchise players take over a game/series. I'm tired of matchups being the excuse of how they can't generate or play through it. That ain't good enough.
To be fair we won without Clifford. All he did was take a 5 min major and get suspended, so I don't wanna pretend he is some difference maker. Simmonds as well, pretty much threw the last game he played. yeah he's physical, but when you're sitting in the box for half your shifts what the hell is even the point ?Holl stays inKeefe is clueless.
Also thought one of Simmonds or Clifford would be back in after Tampa bullied us
Boosh is just too high up in the lineupFair enough, Boosh has been pretty bad too. But I would say Holl has been pretty damn lucky his multiple brain farts, lack of positioning, awareness and ability to read the play haven't led to more GA.
Boosh brings tools to the playoffs we desperately need , Holl doesn’t play bottom 6 min and situations and he brings no other tools other than length and minutes.I honestly don't get the hate for Holl. Yes he's not a top 4 dman - but hes a pretty good bottom pairing dman.
I think Holl has been better than Lybushkin. If anything - people should be upset with Lybushkin still staying through
You would have thought how well the Leafs played in game #1 that re-inserting Liljegren would be obvious and having home ice and last change and matching possibility.Holl is in out of spite. Keefe is coddling him like he did to Campbell after he let in 3 of. 6 shots.
Is it too late to hire Trotz?
And that in itself is worrisome if that’s a factHonestly….Steve Simmons forced holl into the lineup tonight. No way was he sitting him after that confrontation
