Pre-Game Talk: Leafs vs Lightning. Game 5

I have to be honest......I'm not confident.
I believe Game 4 was a series killer. Campbell's confidence is shattered, Keefe refuses to make changes, and Tampa has found a way to shut down our top line.

Engvall/Kampf/Mikheyev have provided some great secondary offense, but unfortunately it won't be enough.

This game is likely do or die for this core, and it would certainly be nice for the $11m Captain to have some sort of an impact offensively, and I've been a huge supporter of him all along...bottom line is he hasn't done anything.

I'm cautiously optimistic so we'll see.

I also wouldn't be so sure it will kill Campbell's confidence. He let in 5 in Game 2 as well and played great in Game 3.

It was the botched glove save for me....the way he was staring at his glove looking for a hole or something..
 
Tied at 0 the Leafs take game 1.
Tied at 1 the Leafs take game 3.
Tied at 2 the Leafs will take game 5.

I'm optimistic. I see no reason not to be.

There have been a lot of lopsided games in this series (both for and against us) let alone these entire playoffs. I'm not reading too much into individual performances. Momentum game to game has not been a thing in this series to date.

He's not wrong though. Liljegren should be playing... over Lyubushkin.

The thing people do is that they micro analyze Justin Holl to every single detail to justify hating him and then throwing their hands in the air when he's still playing.

100%. Lybushkin has a couple big hits and a beautiful play on the goal in game 3, which he deserves credit for. But, he is getting targeted and attacked by the Tampa forcheck and that pairing has had a lot of trouble exiting the zone (and they play primarily with Matthews/Marner) - which i hurting their ability to transition up ice.

The problem is that Keefe is unwilling to play Rielly with anyone other than Lybushkin and Brodie - and he likes (rightfully so) the Muzzin-Brodie pairing so far....
 
Doctor Strange or playoff game…tough decision. I would love to come out of the movie and know we won.

I disagree. Lyubushkin has been getting caved and defensively has been terrible. A few hits doesn't change the issues, but somehow Holl makes one mistake and it's the end of the world.

He will play well tonight again due to preferable line matching at home ie Keefer will keep Matty away from Point .. my worry is Holl gives up a couple more goals against and team is done .. you can't hide an AHL player in NHL playoff hockey .. hope I am wrong .. hope Soup throws up a shutout or 1 goal game and it won't matter

Gio - Holl have great numbers in the two games they played honestly. Holl's numbers since midseason have actually been good. The early Muzzin-Holl struggles are eating people's brains about his effectiveness.

Hes not a needle mover but hes capabale. Lybushkin's underlying are concerning and have been the worst out of the 8 D (Sandin+Liljegren) included. If hes sheltered appropriately he can be fine, but the simple solution is just plug Liljegren in his spot.

Boosh gets too much love around here. Hes been at best very medicore.
