Before even the puck drop tonight for the Leafs.....
DO NOT F UP TONIGHT
DO NOT F UP TONIGHT
Also, Mikhaeyev losing a spot on PP2 doesn't matter to me one bit, he's gone at the end of the year and maybe at the draft trade him for a 2nd or 3rd.
You don't wanna be here? There's the door
Be in the same boat if we were in the Metro. We are on pace for 111 points and are currently in a wildcard position
This division is something else. Need to win tonight to keep pace
If that is your POV , you simply don't understand hockey.

I certainly wouldn't call Holl a #1 D.Really we don’t?
Every line but our 4th line wins their matchup, meaning they are playing strong two-way hockey.
At full health our D has only 1 player who is suspect defensively, and funny enough that’s our #1D who is still above average.
In fact, we are structurally sound defensively AND have the proper players for it. Our only reason for defensive uncertainty is solely on goaltending.
Just out of curiosity though, where do you think our holes are defensively?
It's pretty ridiculous to think that his decision to stay or leave is going to be based on this 30 seconds of PP time that he hasn't been producing in anyway. It's not like we're tossing him aside. He has a solid role on a contending team, and we've given him plenty of chances.it is worthy of discussion when the one it affects this time wanted out due to lack of opportunity. Now, he's been removed from PP2. How do you think that might affect him when it's the off-season? He's going to re-up with the Leafs, or leave?
some GM is going to give him 2.5-3m X3 and Dubas isn't that guyIt's pretty ridiculous to think that his decision to stay or leave is going to be based on this 30 seconds of PP time that he hasn't been producing in anyway. I doubt Mikheyev re-signs with us regardless of what we do. If anything, Giordano and Liljegren are more likely to be here longer than Mikheyev. Mikheyev sounds like he wants to go elsewhere, and I doubt the leafs want to re-sign him at UFA prices anyway. We're going to use him in the most effective ways while we have him, and there's nothing wrong or unusual about that.
One thing is for sure - the coaching staff and the Leafs have a better read and understanding of the situation and potential impacts than you and your random negatively-skewed speculation.
Isn't the bolded the very reason his feelings matter more than ever? Guys will take haircuts when they're happy to be there vs. elsewhere.some GM is going to give him 2.5-3m X3 and Dubas isn't that guy
Would they like to keep him, probably but the problem is he isn't going to stay here for what the Leafs have available to pay him, unless there are some changes which would have to be made but no clear way of making them
Personally I like Mikheyev but the cap is the cap and there's no getting around it, the only way he stays is if he takes a bit of a haircut and whether or not he's happy, loves the city and puts the crest above all else he's not taking a cut in pay, so truly the argument about his feelings is moot.
Always hate when Leafs have back-to-backs. Usually, the dread is reserved for the 2nd half of it, but I feel it for tonight, instead. We know they'll be fired up for Florida at home. What are they willing to expend tonight? Trap game feel to this one for sure.

Amen to that. This is a potential 4 point swing, IF Ottawa can do to Florida what they sometimes due to Leafs over there. We could be down 3 to the Panthers with 2 wins and a loss to Ottawa for Florida.Well.... at least panthers are playing tonight too so both teams have back to back tomorrow.
Leafs again play back to back versus florida later with tampa first and then florida not sure how "even" that might be...
but we gotta make the best of the 4 points tonight and tomorrow. Good teams find a way to fight through adversity especially when going gets tough. Given playsoffs are just around the corner there is just no excuse not to ramp up the play. I
did you ever find that little man?
not unlike the SS who signs for 12.5 and say's he left money on the table to help the team out, a ridiculous statement to say the least and one that has always made me roll my eyes and say "gawd give me strength, and help me tolerate all the righteous and sanctimonious hypocrites that I share the planet with!"Isn't the bolded the very reason his feelings matter more than ever? I'm ever skeptical of agent-speak but if you believe this, Mikheyev has already given to the Leafs via the haircut.not unlike the SS who signs for 12.5 and say's he left money on the table to help the team out, a ridiculous statement to say the least and one that has always made me roll my eyes and say "gawd give me strength, and help me tolerate all the righteous and sanctimonious hypocrites that I share the planet with!"
a guy who's in the middle class with not a lot of earning power is not going to drop 25-40% because he loves the crest or the city.
