Pre-Game Talk: Leafs vs Flyers

Well, we are shortly to be blessed with too many decent defencemen, and Keefe likely to bench my fav.
Just wait til Sandin comes back!!!

So if all goes according to how it has in most of 2022, the Flyers, who has one player with points above 50 and 20 goals, the Leafs will lose 8 to 1.

Hopefully Matthews forgets about 50 goals, gets hungry for 60 and then scores 10 instead.

Leafs will win 10 to 8.

Leafs team D has had (at least) half-games of total dominance recently.
First half of Montreal, middle against ‘Peg, and was very good against FLA/BOS.
Need some of that for Jack’s return to help him ease in.
Nick’s debut should be interesting, and cool if he gets some PP2 time. Guy’s gifted when he has space.
 
Always interesting to see how college guys adapt to the NHL. Nick is 22 so probably as physically mature as he’s going to get, apparently pretty smart player. If he ends up being another Brooks type than can be effective on the 4th line it’s a win. Maybe he has higher upside but I expect him to play a pretty simple game tonight.
 
3 straight wins, two against top divisional foes, and then the emotion jets rematch.. and the Lightning and Florida on the docket next?

Yeah this has the makings of a loss/let down game.

I just hope Campbell has a strong start. Above all else right now getting him confident is the most important thing.

Matty with a hatty incoming, Leafs win 5-2. They looked great against Carolina, Florida, Boston, Winnipeg. No reason why they can't continue to play at a high level.
 
I felt Matthews was squeezing the stick over the past (at least) three games. Hoping with the 50 goals mark achieved he plays a little more free. I could see him potting a couple tonight.

Nylander was fantastic last game, and good the game before that... hoping he can continue on that track.

JT has been very good of late, consistent with the points and now scoring a little to boot.

The defence has been transformed imo with the addition of Gio. Not in just how they are playing but the pairings have seemed to even out. Timmy is playing the best he ever has, Holl has leveled out.

We have a LOT of positiveness going for us... even though I agree it is a trap game... maybe it is one we survive.

Big question is Campbell... and I would hope the team is focused on playing a tight discipline game to boost him and his confidence as we head down the stretch.

Oh yeah, he sucks now. Shouldn't be in the league next year unless someone like the Coyotes sign him

They are a solid hockey market that spends to the Cap, they are used to and expect a good team. We've been there. Main difference is they only have a goalie curse.....

Edit: OMG man. I went over there. Despair is the perfect word.

I heard them talking about that on the radio. He broke Doug Jarvis' record, but 1000 would have been a nice round number. But Kessel will probably break it. Kessel getting in the record books one way or another.

Don't know why they wouldn't give him the 11 more games, they are not playing for anything etc, infact it might help them get a better spot in the draft which they need more than a #6 guy playing like 12mins.

Funny thing is they are doing it against the the Leafs, guess they want to win really bad...😉

Yeah at this point for them they might as well do something positive for the guy.

That sucks
