I wonder if the NHL just needs to start offering a dollar a game streaming options for people who just want to watch a la carte.

That would be nice.

For Leaf games you basically need tsn and sportsnet apps and that adds up quick.

Nhl center ice is basically for Americans. It doesn't work right here... otherwise I'd get it.

Holl and Ritchie out will hurt,, that's a lot of toughness lost. Blues will bring a physical game given their names out. They'll want a low event game with lots of scrums.

I have it in NS and the only game I ever had blacked out was a preseason game in Montreal that is only broadcast on RDS in our area. Every other game on every other night is on. I've watched over 20 Arizona games. A dozen Pittsburgh. And over a dozen Colorado.

If you want to debate the viability of the strategy I'm open to a conversation. I think it's telling that the best teams in the league (apart from Toronto) are generally closer to the top of the list than the bottom. However, that is besides the point. The Leafs philosophy is to pass up low percentage looks for higher percentage looks. That doesn't mean they wouldn't try to have Chychrun attack as a trailer in the slot ala Rielly, but his total number of shots would suffer because they want their forwards taking the majority of their shots.

High % looks need to be generated, they're not just sitting there waiting for us to pick and choose between what shot we want. The passing lanes could be better. Increase the respect we get when the puck is near the blue line and you'll get even better looks. As of today not even lottery teams respect it, which is embarrassing considering we're supposed to be juggernauts.

That is brutal. I thought if you got Center Ice that you got all games.

So why the hell are games blacked out then?
Something to do with the cable companies and them wanting you to watch the games there. You do get access to the games after the game is over on NHL packages, but it becomes pointless if you know the outcome.

That because you don't fall into a blackout area being in Nova Scotia. It only applies to in province teams, or Ottawa area for Ottawa.

Being in Windsor area, leafs games were blacked out in the past, but I don't use cable anymore so idk how it is now.

Yeah we are considered in the Montreal and Ottawa region. All of their games are on the regular TSN and Sportsnet channels. All the other teams' games that aren't on nationally are blacked out but are all on CI.

Going back to the Mike Keenan days, the St. Louis Blues always seem to have the Leafs number. When they had Alex Steen you could tell how much they liked beating up on Toronto. Hoping for a good result tonight but I dread Blues games in St. Louis.

I don't disagree with you necessarily, I'm just stating what the Leafs philosophy is, though to be fair I simplified it considerably.

You guys are nuts. You are letting your dislike of the player cloud what he does well.

1 he accomplished nothing with toughness. Got taken down easily

2 Tkachuk dummied him

3 He took a run at Stutzle and Sabourin handed him his ass

Getting thrown around, pummeled and beaten has nothing to do with toughness.
