So with Clifford up I guess that means we probably won't be getting Abruzzese in the line-up tomorrow? I am bewildered at how this team still puts such useless players into it's line-up when it has several better options on the Marlies. I would give my left nut to see us actually ice our optimal line-up before I die.

There should be a new GSVA update tomorrow.

In fairness, Abruzzese would be playing with no practice time so it makes sense. If this continues than yes I agree.

Last time we played in Boston was October 22, 2019. Our blueline that game featured Tyson Barrie, Cody Ceci and Kevin Gravel. Our goalie in net was Michael Hutchinson

....We have come a long way (well the goaltending still sucks lol)

I'd like to see Keefe really use the blender here. See what we actually got in a few of these forwards.

Tavares Matthews Abruzzese
Bunting Nylander Marner
Blackwell Kampf Engvall
Steeves Kerfoot Mikheyev

Iunno. Maybe I'm just buzzed. Haha.

I suspect they will beat, Boston and that's what pisses me off about this team they can beat Boston, they can beat/ Boston, they can beat Carolina, they can beat Tampa

but not Montreal, or Arizona, or Buffalo

I just want to see some consistency from this team.
Let’s be honest, it will only really count once the playoffs begin. Regular season is just a tune-up for when it really matters. It’s time we get that monkey off our backs.

Why couldn't you have both? Sit Spezza-Simmonds and play Abruzzese & Clifford?
Clifford-Abruzzese-Blackwell. Abruzzese struggles at NHL C in his first few shifts, well Blackwell is a Kerfoot type that can play the middle too. Abruzzese-Blackwell-Clifford. I wouldn't be shocked in the least to see both Spezza-Simmonds sit. That said, throwing in Abruzzese after his first practice with the big boys might not be something the coaching staff wants to do just yet

These were the Booins practice lines yesterday...

Marchand-Bergeron-DeBrusk
Hall-Haula-Pastrnak
Frederic-Coyle-Smith
Foligno-Nosek-Lazar
Blidh-Studnicka-McLaughlin

Lindholm-McAvoy
Grzelcyk-Carlo
Forbort-Clifton
Reilly-Brown

Swayman
Ullmark

First lines match Pest+Skill
2nd lines match secondary scoring
3rd lines match Shutdown
4th lines match physical (Clifford in should be better than recent Wayne Train)

Our D should be better all around but the B’s play a good defensive system.

Worried our 3 games in 4 nights will have us skating in quicksand. I expect a low scoring tough game. Professionals should be able to get up for the game, but they’re only human. We will see how their bodies react. Mentally they should have no problem getting up for this game. A few early goals are essential for victory.

in every major sport you have to outscore your opponent, whether that's by limiting their scoring or increasing your own doesn't matter. Offense is just as important as defense. I mean in the NFL specifically the QB is so much more important than any player...or are you going to tell me defense won the Chiefs their Super Bowl and not that Mahomes guy.
Yeah you don't watch a whole lot of football lol. Obviously offense matters, but defense is what it comes down too. Chiefs secondary got f***ing annihilated by Brady and the Bucs receivers the last time they made the superbowl and that was the difference in the game. No not just because the Bucs receivers all elite players but because the Chiefs had a top 5 worst pass defense in the entire league and they had no answer for Gronk. This past year the Rams absolutely stacked up on their D, Donald + Ramsey + Miller and they came through in the clutch. Kupp and Stafford were phenomenal, but Burrow + Chase + Mixon and the rest of the Cinci offense was just as good. It came down to a few huge defensive plays, stopping cinci from gaining a single yard twice to seal the game.

Offense is important, defense is more important. In a sport like hockey if you defend the right way, you can counter attack and capitalize on your chances. Take a look at the recent cup winners and let me know which one wasn't elite defensively.

Tampa, Tampa, St.Louis, Washington, Pittsburgh, PIttsburgh, Chicago, LA, Chicago, LA, Boston, Chicago

All had elite defence and offence

Now look at the runner ups

Montreal, Dallas, Boston, Vegas, Nashville, San Jose, Tampa, NYR, Boston, Devils, Canucks, Flyers

Montreal, Dallas and maybe San Jose are the only ones who weren't elite defensively.

Just as Rask-Raycroft became synonymous, there are some draft dots connecting the crease of both teams to Swayman. In the fourth round of 2017, after Toronto chose lanky Ian Scott from Prince Albert of the WHL, the Bruins followed with Alaska-born Swayman from the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL.

Ian Scott became a junior goalie of the year, but has been trying to find his way out of the minors, mostly due to a hip injury and surgery. As of Monday, Swayman’s 2.09 goals-against average was second only to ex-Leaf Frederik Anderson atop the NHL.

Anyone know if swayman was ranked higher than scott ?

Seems like Swayman was an off the board pick

Offense is important, defense is more important.
Actually, if you look at all of the winners since modern stat tracking, average league ranking suggests that offense > goaltending > defense, though the cup can be won with pretty much any make-up.
Take a look at the recent cup winners and let me know which one wasn't elite defensively.
2014 LA and 2015 Chicago were largely just above average defensively, not elite.
2009 Pittsburgh was league average defensively.
2011 Boston was below average defensively.
2017 Pittsburgh and 2018 Washington were bad defensively.

Should be an interesting game, but if Keefe plays Spezza and Simmonds I might throw my glass of Scotch at the tv..............nah, wouldn't waste it.

Goalies are always a gamble, if Boston thought Swayman was going to be what he is today, they maybe don’t wait until the 4th round.

Great pick no doubt, but goalies are difficult to project long term.
Pisses me off the Boston has had Thomas-Rask-Swayman. That’s gonna be a long period of having atleast one great goaltender.

They have some good upcoming prospects. They are also doubling down on what worked for ever since they got Chara. A good sound defensive team starting from the back. They don't have Rask type of goalie anymore. Not sure how good Jeremy will be for them

But they know they are comfortable in 2-1 or 3-2 games. To me it was a very good bet in Lindholm who is still young without giving up anyone valuable
Maybe didn't give up a roster player but trading the player they chose 1st round in 2017, plus a 1st and 2-2nds is a lot of draft capital for a UFA to be. Then signing him to an 8 year contract at a value higher than Marchand is questionable too.

Not a fan that we keep recalling Clifford and rotating between him and Simmonds.

Joey Anderson needs to be given a shot.
