Can anyone tell me why Holl still plays for this team?

Asking for a friend.

I believe this is the year that he will be our #7 option when healthy. Sandin and Liljegren (last year) seem to have started cementing themselves to the team and Holl isn't starting over the other 4 vets.

I think Rielly is back there for puck retrieval and passing, but not much else.

All he really does is just pass it around the perimeter to Matthews or Marner. I’m sure Robertson could do that too. We could also use a legit shooting option back there. Most elite teams have one.

Wouldn’t hurt to try one would think.

He is showing what a "point" is supposed to do on the PP to open up lanes, rebounds and keep opposition PK honest to not always cheat towards Matthews' shot

Marners coasting is hurting not only Matthews but the entire team. His mouth and his bad play has made him a pariah with the fans and, most likely, the coaching staff. He needs a reboot! And that reboot should be in the butt right outa town.

I think Holl is #7 when we are fully healthy, I think the coaching staff has fallen out of love with him, except when Liljegren was trash in the playoffs last year.

True but injuries happen, I definitely think that someone has had the Robidas Island conversation with Muzzin - which all things considered is probably what’s best for him, he’s very very close to being done.

And three of them make less combined than each one of the top three, moving out someone on F to spread money to the D is the right move.
