I realize for anyone in the Leafs region, this is not even worth discussing... but for those of us who are out-of-market watchers the TV schedule is usually of some interest. How many regional games and who is carry them?

Interesting this season, with Hometown Hockey moving to Monday instead of Sunday, meaning Sunday games are now (all) regional (except the Heritage Classic) and Mondays are (all) national, similar to Wednesdays and Saturdays. So, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday become the regional game nights with 14 games on SportsNet and 26 games on TSN, which means the remaining 42 are national (all on SportsNet of course).

Of interest, the first regional SportsNet game is not until Nov 21 with Cuthbert, Simpson and McKenzie calling and hosting. The first TSN regional game is on Oct 14 and I assume its Gord, Ray and Mark calling and hosting though that may be altered throughout the season depending on Ray's ESPN schedule; expect MJ to fill in when Ray is not available.

Wednesday start times vary, many @ 7:30pm (boo), almost all the home games start at 7pm (yay). With an almost even split between national and regional games looks like some sort of package is required for out-of-marketers (Centre Ice on TV or NHL.tv streaming).

** Note start times indicate pre-game show start time, not puck drop time

Ray isn’t doing any TSN games.

Also surprised at the 5:30 starts, and why so many 6:30 starts on TSN.

Did something change in regards to Ferraro? Because my understanding was that he was still doing Lesf and WJC games but would no longer be doing radio segments TSN Radio shows.

As noted, the TSN times are the start of the pre-game show,

I’m not fond of Hometown Hockey moving to Monday. I don’t like the format and now, we’ll be stuck with it 8 times this year as opposed to the 2 or 3 of years past. Oh well.

Oh , ok thanks, I just thought it was WJC

So basically, half of the games are blacked out. The current setup is a farce. I pay for cable only for sports, and half of them are blacked out. I dislike streaming because it has a delay. So I like it on cable. However if they think I am paying again for that content, then LOL.

Always a pity the Leafs do not play more than one weekend afternoon game. Would be so nice for me as a European fan to have a few more games on at a reasonable timeslot. Really a different tradition between Canada and Europe. Here most popular sports are on in the afternoon on weekends.

I am pretty sure Ray is doing Leafs regional games on TSN (when he can) and WJC. As was noted above no radio... I saw/read an interview with him, and he was pretty excited about that and the time he will have to spend with his family. His presence is a big loss for TSN overall though imo.

The 6:30pm start times on TSN indicate the start of the pre-game show. Puck drop is generally 7pm, which is more like 7:10pm or later in Toronto.

Very much a difference in tradition. I for one despise afternoon hockey; I'd much rather be outside doing something than sitting at home watching TV. Evening games, getting together with friends and family and having a few drinks is more my thing... but that is just what we are used to I guess (same as you).
