Lots of love for some deserving players but man, I gotta bring up Marner again. The primary assist king, kid just gives gifts and kills penalties with the best of em.

Honest question, is this one of the best 1st lines we've ever had?

I can't imagine there's ever been a better one.

Congrats on the win, sorry I missed the game. Happy to read that Liljegren played well and that Matthews Matthewed.

In the post game interview Mitchie said the victory song in the room is Hypnotize... Assume that is the Notorious B.I.G. song? Irrelivent I know but was just curious... It's a real 'banger' for those who didn't know

It's actually this one.

Pretty solid game. It wasn't very exciting but after a bad start to the game, the Leafs did really well.

I thought Brodie and Rielly had a rough game, especially Brodie. The same issue that the top line is the only line going is still there.

Mrazek had a great game... but his rebound control was a little off.

I just want to let everyone here know that the panthers got dummied by Columbus 6-3, and Pittsburgh got skunked by New Jersey 6-1 tonight.
It’s a crazy league.

Panthers blow a 3-1 lead at home vs Nashville and giving up 6 goals in back to back games. They are playing a little too sloppy.

If Leafs can solidly their D and Muzzin gets healthy for the playoffs, we could yet see a.team oriented focus on defense that can out grind opponents in a playoff series.

I will never be confident if a team shies away from the physical game so I hope any pickup(s) at least have that gear.

Random fact: If Matthews scores two more goals before Ovechkin scores his next one, then he'll be tied for most goals scored in the NHL since his rookie debut against Ottawa in 2016.

It's not up for debate, in this generation, Matthews is the best natural goal scorer. That's fact.
hes also only got 59 PP goals where in the same time ovi has 101

Unfortunately he can't sustain that on a nightly basis, however we did get a glimpse of what 2nd line could look like with a better winger. Nylander looked dangerous with the little extra space Simmonds got him.
Back on!!! ;)

Yeah, MM with a sweet feed to AM for the go ahead goal. I wonder if the haters even have any veins in their head left to burst?

I love Hyman but without him it feels like Matthews/Marner have went into the corners and fought for pucks more. They're absolutely relentless on the forecheck

I don't know about that. Matthews and Marner always went to the corners and fought for pucks constantly. The narrative that Hyman was the one doing it for them, while a popular one, was never really reality.

I prerfer Bunting over Hyman, tbh. Although, quite similar, I think Bunting is a little more skilled and knows his role more.
half of hymans goals come off body parts lol, hes great at going to the net but buntings hands are on a different level

What shall we complain about tonight?

Mrazek's rebound control :sarcasm:

Great game overall, Matthews was godly. 17-2 on faceoffs and just dominating the entire ice, we're so lucky to have this guy. Call me a homer but I think he's the 2nd best C in the world.

Bush is extremely physical and actually a decent passer too, I love it. The D looks so much better with him in the lineup. JT really needs to figure this out, he's just throwing any garbage shot at the net hoping it goes in, that's not the way you play winning hockey.

They're just a little more successful at it now. Or so it would seem.
