Great game. Well the first period was a snooze fest but at least they didn't give up a goal.

All 6 D played well. No reason for Holl to draw back in.

Matthews is an absolute beast.

Marner has eyes on every side of his head.

Mrazek was excellent and deserves the net for the next game after that game. Campbell should still be the #1 but maybe he needs a few games off if Mrazek can repeat thus performance.

Better defense that did a good job of allowing Mzarek to see the puck. He was excellent tonight, quiet with few rebounds.

Matthews two way play leads to another game winner. Players of high skill need to have touches and hard work on D can lead to takeaways and contact that allows them to dictate the game.

I thought Simmonds was quite engaged tonight, Dermott was solid. Entire backend was keeping the Wild at arms length.

Solid win that could have gone the other way but they didn't break against a very good team. Playoff winners play these types of games often.

Also sorry but John should've said something to Zucca-bitch after that trip on Kerfoot at the end. Don't know what the difference was between tonight and that game last year in Winnipeg when Marner dodged Pionk. I guess because Kerfoot let it go John did too.

That was a hard fought game by both teams. It's always extra nice to win those types of games. Still a bit concerning only scoring two goals tonight (not counting the EN'er). It's unrealistic to expect Mrazek to play like that on a regular basis so we're going to need 3+ goals in general if we want the W. Overall though, great effort.

Random fact: If Matthews scores two more goals before Ovechkin scores his next one, then he'll be tied for most goals scored in the NHL since his rookie debut against Ottawa in 2016.

It's not up for debate, in this generation, Matthews is the best natural goal scorer. That's fact.

A couple more for Matthews, and that's the Mrazek we hoped to be getting. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mrazek in net again next time out versus the team that drafted him.

Lots of love for some deserving players but man, I gotta bring up Marner again. The primary assist king, kid just gives gifts and kills penalties with the best of em.

Honest question, is this one of the best 1st lines we've ever had?

I owe him praise for coming back from an awful performance in the playoffs, getting annihilated in the media, by fans and haters alike. I remember the constant dumb questions he had to answer by the media day after day. He deserves praise for showing how good of a player he really is.

I just hope he can clear his head, turn off the background noise in the playoffs and just play his game.

Yes, it's one of the best lines the Leafs have ever had. Then again, I can only base that on what I've seen since I started watching and I've been watching a long time.

Funny I have been following that all year too as he will soon be to the point where he is number one by every possible measure (pace, raw totals....everything). Literally best on the planet for over 6 years. What's scary is when you realize what many of us pointed out....his lack of minutes or situational opportunities compared to his peers. Adding the context....it isn't even close.

Is it a coincidence that we played a pretty solid defensive game with Holl and Muzzin out of the lineup?

Hmmmmmm?

In the post game interview Mitchie said the victory song in the room is Hypnotize... Assume that is the Notorious B.I.G. song? Irrelivent I know but was just curious... It's a real 'banger' for those who didn't know
