Anyone surprised by his lack of production just doesn’t understand hockey.

Robertson is a small, non-physical winger who produces offense off the rush. He is never going to position himself in front of the net or win battles in the corner. Hes not a dump and chase player. He doesn’t have the IQ to be a playmaker and his shot comes off too slow to be a trigger man.

He is good at a possession game, he’s quick with his stick and can move in tight. He can get his shot off on the rush when he has time to pull the trigger.

He just doesn’t fit Berubes system. Don’t be surprised if when traded he starts to produce in a system that fits his strengths.
He won't and I won't. No team with any ambition would be ok with someone so shallow in abilities.

I actually like what I've seen from him this season and there's been clear improvements and strides to his game. Its just not hitting the score sheet right now. I think this could end up like a Steve Sullivan situation were he starts putting up stats the moment he gets traded.

Right now its not good timing. Its selling low.

It’s naive to think he has no abilities. You don’t score 14 goals in 56 games with limited TOI by accident.

He can easily be a 20 goal scorer in the right situation.
i disagree. Unless you are referring to Robertson in the AHL. Toronto has had plenty of Robertsons come through the organization. Kapanen and Mango come to mind.

We also had Trevor Moore and Carter Verhaeghe come through the organization.

I didn’t say Robertson WILL succeed elsewhere, but to guarantee he WONT is foolish.

Agreed. I can't guarantee anything.

We can only see what he's doing currently. When the team needs him the most he's showing his worst.

It could be like Sullivan or it could be like Josh Lievo or Sonny Milano, Robbie Schremp, Wellwood.

Sullivan wasn't a victim of production but Quinn's/Dryden. Quinn's love affair with top physical players who were big. NHL cared for big players back then

Sullivan though had more than way to contibute, everyone knew he had really good hands, great skater. He fell behind Leafs depth chart. Especially Quinn's again, love affair with big veterans

Robertsson has been given every opportunity, with good players in key situations.
