I have never liked, nor rated this player.

I remember the offseason after the Columbus loss, and seeing him penciled in on the top line next to Matthews in people's mock lineups. It was at that moment I knew as a fanbase, we'd lost all sense of right and wrong and we were broken.

If you see JT at 6x6m and MM at 13.8mx4 just toss away your cup hopes and enjoy the names not the Leafs.

Do you think that part of Robertson's shortcomings is that he estranged himself from the team with his multiple trade requests?

The body language on Nylander when Robertson squandered the 2 on 1 was very telling last night.

No, all of them are out for themselves first so it'd be incredibly selfish to blame Robertson for doing the same, especially when he's trying to stick in the league, while they gouge for every single penny. Nylander was just mad that he didn't pass.

I can't think of one thing Robertson does exceptionally well.

His shot? What about it? All I see is a guy who doesn't pass.

His sweet sweet shot is overhyped along with everything else about this team.

Almost as important as his lack of skill is Robertson's piss poor attitude. His whole demeanor strikes me as combative. He comes across as defiant.

Asking to be traded at least twice that we know of.

If somebody doesn't want to be here nobody should want him here. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I don't see how Robertson is worth enough to even worry about what the return could be.

Just waive him to a bottom feeder where he can sink or swim.

Mirtle said this guy was the greatest draft pick in team history on his show,
All these type of guys who think hockey analytics are da cats meow have no clue what they are talking about.. hockey analytics are in da newbie stages of development .. it will be another 20 years before folks even figure out how to get da right ones .. bottom line it all starts with pro skating and hockey sense .. this guy Robertson has neither .. but he does have a great shot which unfortunately for him a 1 trick pony ain't gonna make it anywhere .. good luck getting much more than a 5th or 6th rounder even then I don't see it

I think the reason he always seems to be chasing the game with seemingly little to no impact is that he has very low hockey IQ. Just a very poor level of reading & evaluating what's happening and making sure he's in the right place and doing the right thing.

Last game he had the puck near the left wall preparing for a dump-in with 2 Leafs in front of him ready to chase it down. Instead of flipping it along the near wall/into the left corner for some reason he dumps it diagonally into the right corner .. Where a Panther d-man easily picked it up and got it out uncontested.

It's the little things like that play that show just how far behind he is right now. In the AHL I'm sure he'd do well, probably be among the team leaders in goals and do well on PP1. In the NHL, he's not a factor, anywhere, and it's showing.

LOL, I still can't believe this guy asked to be traded. Who does he think he is?

Anyone surprised by his lack of production just doesn’t understand hockey.

Robertson is a small, non-physical winger who produces offense off the rush. He is never going to position himself in front of the net or win battles in the corner. Hes not a dump and chase player. He doesn’t have the IQ to be a playmaker and his shot comes off too slow to be a trigger man.

He is good at a possession game, he’s quick with his stick and can move in tight. He can get his shot off on the rush when he has time to pull the trigger.

He just doesn’t fit Berubes system. Don’t be surprised if when traded he starts to produce in a system that fits his strengths.

I've been a big supporter for a long time. So it kills me, but he just doesn't belong on this team. Any opportunity he gets from here on out would just be wasted. We should be giving opportunities to guys like A.Nylander or Steeves instead.

maybe it's just the way he skates and his lack of any ability to handle the puck but he looks like he is using a stick that is like a foot too long for him

Good post, if Robertson didn't work in Keefe's system he's got zero shot under Berube.

There are other small wingers in the league (Marchand, Zuccarello, Gallagher, Stankoven, DeBrincat) but they can hang in physically. Nicky gets swatted around like a fly, he has zero strength and physicality to him.
